When are the pox itchy?

DD got the odd little spot on Saturday, lots more on Sunday and is now fairly well covered with them and quite itchy. When does the itchiness subside - when they crust, before then or even later?

I think they are itchy as they start to heal over, My two just had it and I have to say - when are the pox itchy?? From about 2am till 6am!!! Mine were in agony for 3 nights each.
Get some liquid piriton, calomine lotion (keep it in the fridge) and some calpol to make baby feel better, rush to the chemist now, you will be needing all that tonight!

OH NO Dont' pick them off - I saw ds1 pick one off his nose and if you pick them before they are ready to come off they leave lifelong craters!
They do stay a bit itchy for a while but the worst bit when all the nerves in the skin are jangling cos of the pressure of the liquid in the spots lasts about 3 nights. After that mine slept through 'recuperating'!

Ds was worse on his face and head, he was covered in them. His hair is so whiteblonde you can see all the scabs on his scalp, and his face is all scabby....as he is so fair he take longer for his scars to fade...and guess what? On Thursday it's school photos.....
