teething or a cold?

how do you tell. yes, i know that sounds dumb, especially from someone who trained as a nurse, but i can't tell. granted, it makes little difference to how i treat him, but i'd like to know! any tips?
btw, i may be buggering off due to above problem so if i don't get a chance to respond, tia.

my DS gets a runny nose when he is teething but with a cold he gets a slight fever as well
In both cases you can;t go wrong with a dose of medised and a bit of bonjela on the gums before bed

DS quite often gets a cold (or cold symptoms) when teething so it's kind of neither here nor there!

it is a bit of a quandry really. i've been around other mums with babies who are running a temp and they say "oh, he's teething" and i think "no, he's got a stinking cold."!

have you felt his gums - have you seen any teeth poking through or gums looking "split"?

his poor little mouth has lots of white bits coming through so i think it probably is the teeth this time. poor wee man.
