Chest infection recovery

Hi,
This is my first post. I am looking for experience of chest infecation recovery from others. I became unwell just over 2 weeks ago with a sore throat cough, cold symptoms. By the end of the first week I awoke unable to breathe properly and was rushed to hospital in an ambulance. A ventolin nebuliser and oxygen helped. I had several tests in hospital and was discharged on amoxicillin and prednisolone (40mg in morning for 5 days). I only took 30g daily of the prednisolone as I was worried about side effects. I was completely wired on the prednisolone, couldn’t sleep and constantly jittery. Meds have finished now and I am still suffering with intermittent chest pain and longs spells of breathlessness, occasional bouts of coughing. I am exhausted, can’t function properly. I have managed to prepare the evening meal for the family and do some laundry and ironing but I get so worn out I have to lie down for hours. I have a holiday cottage business and DH is having to take time off work to do the changeovers for me. I find the breathlessness most distressing. Visited GP yesterday and I was prescribed a preventer inhaler (Clenil) and told to keep off the ventolin as I was so shaky. Does any one else have experience of this? How long did it take for the breathlessness to go?
Thanks,
Perky1

Are you also asthmatic?

Hi, I am not asthmatic. Never had any chest issues. This came out of the blue.

Oh you poor thing , what did the hospital diagnose in the end. I would definitely seek medical advice, and don't do any housework that you dont need to, when we're you discharged from hospital and were you ok when you got home.
