Hoping it's ok to start a part 2 of our thread, since the first one got to 1000 posts and isn't accepting any new messages:

We have been laid low for nearly 3 weeks with very high temps. It is a bugger.

Thanks treedragon .How are you doing - any better?

I still have a stuffed up nose, some snot and a tickly throat and a bit of a cough - a low level cold. Nothing to slow me down. a bit of pain in my elbows and knees persisting. So, I think I am better from the virus.
The tickly throat concerns me - given the trajectory of this virus I do wonder in low moments if the razor blade throat is set to return?

My energy levels are still low, I have had several migraines in the past week. (I do get migraines but had got them down from chronic 4 years ago - 5 a week to 1 a month in the past year) and on headache free days I feel dizzy, full ears, false sense of motion, like I've been out night clubbing, eye flickering etc - so I feel down about that and that I might have to take meds again. I'm having to force myself to get back into my routine and build stamina again.

I suppose my immune system has got so low it has let my weakness reassert itself. I'm still wary of being out and about. I had to go to an appointment on Wednesday - a 25 minute walk away and I felt really weird about 20 minutes in, spacey, hot and really panicky. The radiographer thought I was nervous about the x rays but I wasn't at all.

I just want to get back to normal and get on with things!! I really want to visit my eldest DC in her new flat in London but after my nightmare day in London with the virus in January I just can't hack it - really not like me.

I went for a country walk with my son yesterday - it was sunny and the sheep in the fields had lambs. I felt like I had missed a whole season of life.

Sorry for the whine. My children are all better- chocolate and crisp eating a plenty again. So there is hope.

I’ve got this too. It’s shit. I’m 37 weeks with twins and due to be induced on Monday. The sore throat is awful. I spent all of last night awake. I made the mistake of going shopping and ended up gagging into a carrier bag. Beyond fucked off.

Gp today said it’s judt a horrid virus. That’s “everyone has”. The thought of looking after newborn twins with this gives me actual chills.

I have never had such a sore throat. It’s only good if it’s drinking stuff which obviously makes sleep very difficult.

The strongest thing I can take is bloody paracetamol.

Will I feel better by Monday? I feel like it keeps coming and going. The cough side of things is better but the general “urgh” feeling and razor throat that chokes you every few hours is very much still there. I’ve felt really shit for 7 days or so.

What’s the quickest people have gotten over this?

It’s like a viscious cycle: throat so sore and dry it makes me cough, then the cough irritates the throat further.

I'm feeling good today, taking care of myself and hoping this is the end of it! Yesterday my work colleague told me that she didn't want to be rude but that I looked a wreck and should be at home in bed. I had start of totm yesterday so had lots of cramping so this had more of an effect I guess.
Hope everyone else is on the up

Hello again everyone, sorry to hear you're all still struggling to various extents with this friggin monster. Myself, well, it has most recently left me with a really weird twist. About 4 weeks ago I had a root canal finished off that was started back in January when I was between the first two waves of this mad virus. The numbing injections made me take a funny turn about 10 minutes in, the dental nurse had to check I was OK and she opened the window even though it was snowing outside. I admit for a while I thought they'd given me too much but now I realise it was my body with this virus reacting to something that I can usually cope with. A day later I got the pain in my old spinal fracture that made me convinced I had somehow fractured again. (BTW x Ray result showed no new fracture.) But the latest twist is a painfully persistent case of the piles which has got me down and is only now taking a turn for the better. Every day I still feel like a pensioner in poor shape, with aches, pains and muscle cramps. I have to sleep during the day, sometimes wake up in the early hours with tmj symptoms like numbness in my jaw and face, and ongoing phlegm and a horrid taste in my mouth Angry

I hope you're all doing better than me, particularly if you've had it for longer than a few weeks. Thanks @treedragon @kikashi and @mammymammyIRL for asking after me. Look after yourselves Smile

Hi avuncularis So sorry that things are still so painful for you. It is just unrelenting. You sound really strong.

Weirdly, like you I have had a bad dentist trip and been visited by Farmer Giles.

I had been due a checkup since Xmas and the crown on my front tooth has been really sensitive and achey since getting the virus so I went on Tuesday. as soon as the chair went slightly back the room started to spin and I got really hot and tingly. The dentist looked terrified that I would throw up and insisted I not walk home alone and called DP. Very embarrassing. I cried when I got home and I rarely cry.

My bottom has been so sore. I've not had piles for 15 year's since I had my youngest DC. I've been taking prebiotic tablets, eating prunes and stewed fruit with yoghurt, milled flaxseed etc and eating a veritable greengrocer's shop everyday in an effort to recover - so how and why?? Is it all the sitting around?

It's Easter at the end of next week and this started just before Xmas - a whole season gone!!! It's positively Victorian in terms of recuperation. WTF is going on??

Oh bugger. I’ve had a persistent tickle in my throat for around 7 weeks now, but last night woke up choking and retching. Sick at 4am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm (the last two at work). I assumed it was just the tickle getting worse, and the pain in every joint was from a combination of a particularly vigorous Pilates session and even more vigorous retching.

I’m supposed to be going skiing next Saturday.

Hi @avuncularis

I had mentioned until now as I thought it was unrelated but I have had trouble with my jaw for about 3 weeks or so now since the virus.

It has become very clicky and crunchy - a bit like my joints and muscles which ache intermittently.

I also still have the bone aching tiredness. I think I am entering week 11 on Sunday .

Hi everyone, hope you're all feeling some recovery. I have better days but I feel like the virus is still in me, one way or another. I get very tired most days at some point in the morning or afternoon, like a sudden slump which just comes over me and makes me want to sleep. Still got phlegm which I cough up intermittently throughout the day, and it's often clear but thick and sometimes tastes grim. My voice isn't great, not generally croaky but I can't sing along to anything because I sound mostly out of tune. I've still got a cough that sounds rattly. Although I'm not coughing much, when I do it surprises me that it sounds so 'full'. Aches and pains are better but still there in one way or another, sometimes feeling rheumatic or just plain sore. Hemmorrhoids not as painful but still there. Still get the dizziness on standing quite frequently. I'd say overall I don't feel right and I'm concerned that this virus has a permanent presence, which sounds far-fetched but apparently it does happen. For me the most distressing aspect now is how tired it makes me look, because I've aged quite well, all things considered, but since this got me I look older and can't shake it off. Bummer Sad

Mustn't grumble though. A dear friend of mine might've caught it while he was in London at the end of January and he has a serious health condition which is vulnerable to such things, so I'm far more worried about him than I am about myself.

Take special care of yourselves, and anyone reading this who isn't sure if we have the same thing, don't panic. See your GP and get her/his opinion rather than assuming we're all suffering from the same virus :)

Hi avuncularis thanks for your update. So very sorry to hear you are still having a horrid time of it. Do you think you have that catch all - post viral fatigue/syndrome?

Finally, in the last day or so the cough seems to be leaving me - just a sniffly/stuffed up nose now. However, I still have low energy and have been having migraines and persistent balance issues (longstanding inner ear disorder) which were really well under control before the virus hit.

I still can't face busy, crowded places and lack stamina for my beloved hikes - can maybe manage 2/3 miles but not with the old enjoyment or lightness of step - it feels a chore but I'm forcing myself to walk a few times a week in an effort to build stamina.

Hope treedragon is through the worst.

Good advice to others avuncularis - we may all have had different strains of the virus and we are probably the unusual ones who it has hit hardest. Others will have posted and got better quickly and fallen off the thread.
