The beginnings of eczema on my eyelids

I think so, anyway. They pick and itch and the skin looks a little inflamed there now. I don't know why - I don't wash with soap (flannel and water) and I've not changed my moisturiser for years (nivea or origins). I want to try and nip this in the bus asap but don't know how.

Why is this suddenly happening and what can I do?

It could be psoriasis. I have the same problem, and when it is really sore cracked I use a little dab of germolene, this soothes and heals the delicate skin.

And psoriasis seems to be an autoimmune condition so not caused by products you use, instead it gets better and worsens throughout the seasons, and possibly affected by diet and stress.

When my eyelid eczema flares up, it's usually something in my environment. Any chance it could be a pollen allergy (being spring and all)? If I were you, I'd try applying hydrocortisone for a couple of days only and hopefully that will calm it down. If it persists, go and see someone.

Thanks for responding everyone. Lots here to try. Wouldn't be surprised if it's allergy related. I developed allergic reactions to all sort of stuff nearly a year ago. Carry an epipen everywhere, my reactions are so severe. I'm making a note of everything and I'll trial it all!

Thanks everyone.

Hi

Could it be blepharitis?

xx

Hi Vis. I saw my GP friend on the weekend and after this thread, asked if it could be Blepharitis - he's ruled that out and thinks it's eczema. Going to try the weakest steroid mixed with diprobase to start.

Thanks!

Hello

That's great to rule it out.

Good luck xx

I’ve had this a while ago and was seen by a consultant dermatologist who said it was coming from my scalp! I had a steroid cream for ny eyelids and around ny hair line and was prescribed Nizoral shampoo. He also said to only use baby oil to remove eye make up.

Do you have psoriasis elsewhere? I've always had patches in a few places but recently my eyelids have started flaking... it's making me look prematurely older because of the crinkly skin effect. My eyes feel so tight on a morning. My diet is shite at the moment though so it's probably that!

I get dry inflamed patches under my eyes sometimes and the thing that works best is aloe vera 100% gel. Pretty cheap in chemists / health food shops. Honestly, give it a try :)
