When I had it, I had light bleeding almost every day for the first month or so. It did settle down after that though and periods stopped completely

Not sure about how long you have to wait until after having a baby but you have it done every 3 months.

nearly everyone who has this puts on weight - I put on about half a stone and felt constantly pre-menstrual, with tender swollen breasts. As I remember, the bleeding was more or less like verybored described. It is also quite common to have a loss of libido. Many doctors are quite reluctant to prescribe it because of links in older women to osteoperosis (sp?) There are quite a few posts on here about it if you do a search

Seriously, if this is the depo jab, please don't use it if you want any more children. It can take months, up to years for fertility to return. Side effects I had included weight gain, depression and complete loss of libido. No periods was nice but in no way made up for all other problems I, and many others have had with this. Please do a search on here or on google and look at what you are getting in to!!

I think I had it about 6 weeks after my daughter was born and I was breast-feeding

i have just read archived threads and now am scared to death of starting this thing!

depression, lack of sex drive, bruises, heavy bleeding for weeks/months, confusion, major weight gain.

im not sure i want to risk getting any number of these things. i could end up with none of them or i could end up with bad symptoms! i have done lots of reading up on it but it doesn't mention all of this to this extent. i have had depression before so maybe this is not a good choice for me??

i just dont like the thought of that for some reason. but i do want something that is long term. i might re consider the implant again. the main attraction of the injection was periods stopping!

i would prefer something that had no hormones but think there is only the (non hormone one) coil. but that is suppposed to make your periods really heavy and painful.

oh this is so annoying

im on the pill at the moment too and just want a change to something else. my skin is rubbish and feel quite crap in myself for a long time and just wanna try something different.

i dont like the weight thing either. I wouldn't mind if it was maybe up to half a stone, but some people on past threads have said they put on 2-3 stone! and that the weight is impossible to loose afterwards. i just couldn't face that.

do you know anyone with experience of the implant?
