What age do childrens teeth start wobbling & falling out......

My mates little girl is 5.5 and is on her 3rd tooth coming out. My friend is a bit worried that this is too early, because people keep saying 'ooo she is young'!

Anyone else able to offer help here, I don't think its a problem, but would really like to reassure my mate TIA.

Dd was just turned five. Her best friend lost her first tooth on her fifth birthday. Half of her class had got wobbly or lost teeth by 5.5

Its about right 4/5/6 depends on the child ,as with everything.

dd is a little older but has n't lost any yet but most of her class (Year 1) have and several had in Reception so ime would not be that unusual.

Several in DS1's reception year have lost teeth, some are only just 5.

Most (if not all) have lots teeth in my year 1 class. seems a shame to get your last set at 6 - be much better to lose them at 18 when you would be better at cleaning and looing after them.

DD lost her first when she was 5 she's just 6 now and has lost both her bottom middle teeth and her two top middle teeth are wobbly now

DD1 lost hers in reception and she's always been the youngest in the class, we got similar comments. I did hear there was a connection between how early/late you lose your baby teeth and how early/late you hit puberty. I hit puberty at 11, so it wouldn't surprise me if dd1 did too. Having said that dd2 is 5.5 and no wobbly teeth so far.

dd1+2 first started losing theirs at 4years old.

The first adult teeth start erupting around 6. But as with all child related things, it is only a guide.

I would not be worried about it. All I would do would be to try to discourage the child from wobbling the tooth too much, herself. If a tooth is lost too early, before an adult tooth is ready to come thru then the spce could start closing & could lead to problems with crowding. But that is worse case senario....

my dd didn't loose any teeth until she was nearly 7, but then she didn't have any teeth until she was over one! 5 is totally normal though. Milk teeth probably all have roughly the same 'shelf life' and it depends on when you get them to start with.

My dss were both about 7 before they lost the first one, but were both the last in their class to do so

DS is 6.5 & has lost his first 2 teeth in the past month. No sign of any more wobbly ones at mo though

Oh, I agree with MaureenMLove too btw. Both of the boys cut their first teeth relatively late (around 1st birthday), and this is linked to when they lose them.

DS1 (almost 10) has only lost/replaced 8 milk teeth. I don't know when the next ones will come out though!

DS1 lost his first two teeth one month after his fifth birthday. he is now 6 1/1 ysrs and in total has lost 6 . 5 re grown but he has a big toothy grin !

My dd got her teeth late - none before 12 mths - and has lost 4 already (she is 6.5 now) - lost the first one almost a year ago, and it has only just grown in ! The bottom two grew in almost immedaitely that the others fell out. So she has one top gap just now !

I hate the gaps - she looked beautiful befoer !

The length of time deciduous teeth are in the mouth or when they came through is irrelevant. It all depends on when the adult teeth start moving up & pushing through. The adult teeth moving up to the surface makes the roots of the baby teeth absorbe, therefore making them wobbly.

This Eruption Chart will give you dates for when certain teeth should put in an appearance, but like everything, it is just guess-timation!

My dd,7, knocked both her front teeth out on her knees yesterday whilst going down the slide. Although they were wobbly, they still weren't ready to come out. I though she had broken her nose at first, there was so much blood (yuk yuk yuk)

My dd is 6 and has just lost 2 teeth, she is by no means the first in her class.
