Apart from labour

I would say a back injury I suffered as a child , that was painful.

The night after I had surgery to pin my broken leg was worse than when I broke and dislocated it, worse than labour and a 4th degree tear, worse than gallstones. I begged for more drugs and couldn't have them as I was 34w pregnant. I literally wanted to die.

Acute compartment Syndrome - I was blacking out and screaming.
Followed by Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which I've had ever since - 7 years of high level pain 24/7/365

Appendicitis. It wasn't even that bad.

So you can imagine the shock when I went into labour...

Ovarian cyst & hydrosalpinx was excruciating. 3 repeat visits to a&e before I was diagnosed or even taken seriously. After the second hospital discharge with being told to take paracetamol I did ask DH to take me to the vet and have me put down instead.

If I had a pliers in the house, I genuinely would have pulled it out myself. Painkillers didn't touch it.

At least with labour, there's a break in between the contractions and you get your baby at the end of it

Annabelle4 Fri 05-Jan-18 14:44:21

*I should have said that that was my experience of labour. I shouldn't speak for others.

NotAPuffin Fri 05-Jan-18 14:45:40

Constipation so painful that I literally couldn't stand, and sinusitis so bad it felt like my teeth were vibrating with the pain.

Sallystyle Fri 05-Jan-18 14:45:46

Dry Sockets.

areyoubeingserviced Fri 05-Jan-18 14:48:01

Dental pain.
I don’t drink alcohol, but I downed copious amounts of whisky in order to cope.
Even the strongest pain killers didn’t touch the pain.

FinnegansCake Fri 05-Jan-18 14:49:37

A slipped disc. The nerve pain was so horrendous and unrelenting it made me cry and sometimes even scream out loud blush even though I have quite a high pain threshold - I gave birth twice with absolutely zero pain relief and never even whimpered.

afrikat Fri 05-Jan-18 14:50:15

Toss up between back pain (slipped disc, severe spasms) and post wisdom tooth removal.

Bellamuerte Fri 05-Jan-18 14:50:23

UTIs are the worst pain anyone can ever have. Back pain is a close second - it cripples me at least once every couple of years.

supersop60 Fri 05-Jan-18 14:53:29

Labour is pretty bad.
Trigeminal neuralgia brought on by toothache was relentless - I couldn't speak and couldn't bear anyone to talk to me.

whiskyowl Fri 05-Jan-18 14:55:00

It's an interesting question!

I would say the most pain I've experienced wasn't the worst pain I've experienced.

The acute, crisis pain of an injury/healing post-surgery was relatively short and therefore awful but manageable. It was far harder to deal with a less severe but far more chronic pain that dragged on and on and on for years on end, wrecking my job, my social life and putting a strain on my relationship until the NHS finally took some action and gave me the simple and cheap surgery that was needed to sort it out.

HolyShet Fri 05-Jan-18 14:55:19

a million times worse than labour!

whiskyowl Fri 05-Jan-18 14:55:48

Oh, and I think dry socket after wisdom teeth coming out takes some beating for acute pain... but still nothing, NOTHING on milder but chronic pain that you can't stop.

HughLauriesStubble Fri 05-Jan-18 14:56:15

Flank pain prior to passing kidney stone, which ironically didn't hurt too much when passing hmm Absolutely worse than labour and also worse the aftermath of a cesarean without any morphine (it doesn't agree with me so could only have anti-inflammatories).

Back pain from an old injury was comparable but because the flank pain was persistent it won.

123bananas Fri 05-Jan-18 14:56:21

Before I had kids I had horrendous periods where I would vomit for 12hours straight and be crying out in pain. Admitted to hospital more than once for it. Far worse than labour with dc1 and 2 and recovery from 3 c sections and a hysterectomy.

donajimena Fri 05-Jan-18 14:57:06

Corneal abrasion was pretty horrendous

raspberrysuicide Fri 05-Jan-18 14:57:50

Breaking and dislocating my elbow then having it pulled back into place with only gas and air.
I had 2 children with no pain relief and my Labour didn't hurt as much as that.

KitKat1985 Fri 05-Jan-18 15:01:19

I burst a disc in my back. Not only the was initial pain horrific, but I still suffer with chronic back pain and flare ups as a result.

RatherBeRiding Fri 05-Jan-18 15:01:51

Dental pain. Labour not particularly painful I have to say but pain caused by dental abcess was a bitch!! Closely followed by chronic ear infection. Urghhhhhhh - bring back bad memories. I had the tooth out in the end and acupuncture cleared up the ear.

HarrietKettleWasHere Fri 05-Jan-18 15:04:43

Severe kidney infection had me willing myself to pass out so I didn't feel it. If recoil when anyone came near me incase they touched my back.

Also, weirdly- having the coil put in. I was not prepared for that. But my cervix went into spasm and they had to clamp it. Then I went into cervical shock and vomited from the pain.

Kidney stones and renal colic.. my kidneys hate me...
