Apart from labour

I would say a back injury I suffered as a child , that was painful.

The night after I had surgery to pin my broken leg was worse than when I broke and dislocated it, worse than labour and a 4th degree tear, worse than gallstones. I begged for more drugs and couldn't have them as I was 34w pregnant. I literally wanted to die.

Acute compartment Syndrome - I was blacking out and screaming.
Followed by Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which I've had ever since - 7 years of high level pain 24/7/365

Appendicitis. It wasn't even that bad.

So you can imagine the shock when I went into labour...

Toothache.

If I had a pliers in the house, I genuinely would have pulled it out myself. Painkillers didn't touch it.

At least with labour, there's a break in between the contractions and you get your baby at the end of it

*I should have said that that was my experience of labour. I shouldn't speak for others.

Constipation so painful that I literally couldn't stand, and sinusitis so bad it felt like my teeth were vibrating with the pain.

Dental pain.
I don’t drink alcohol, but I downed copious amounts of whisky in order to cope.
Even the strongest pain killers didn’t touch the pain.

A slipped disc. The nerve pain was so horrendous and unrelenting it made me cry and sometimes even scream out loud Blush even though I have quite a high pain threshold - I gave birth twice with absolutely zero pain relief and never even whimpered.

Toss up between back pain (slipped disc, severe spasms) and post wisdom tooth removal.

UTIs are the worst pain anyone can ever have. Back pain is a close second - it cripples me at least once every couple of years.

Labour is pretty bad.
Trigeminal neuralgia brought on by toothache was relentless - I couldn't speak and couldn't bear anyone to talk to me.

It's an interesting question!

I would say the most pain I've experienced wasn't the worst pain I've experienced.

The acute, crisis pain of an injury/healing post-surgery was relatively short and therefore awful but manageable. It was far harder to deal with a less severe but far more chronic pain that dragged on and on and on for years on end, wrecking my job, my social life and putting a strain on my relationship until the NHS finally took some action and gave me the simple and cheap surgery that was needed to sort it out.

appendicitis

a million times worse than labour!

whiskyowl · 05/01/2018 14:55

Oh, and I think dry socket after wisdom teeth coming out takes some beating for acute pain... but still nothing, NOTHING on milder but chronic pain that you can't stop.

Before I had kids I had horrendous periods where I would vomit for 12hours straight and be crying out in pain. Admitted to hospital more than once for it. Far worse than labour with dc1 and 2 and recovery from 3 c sections and a hysterectomy.

Corneal abrasion was pretty horrendous

Breaking and dislocating my elbow then having it pulled back into place with only gas and air.
I had 2 children with no pain relief and my Labour didn't hurt as much as that.

I burst a disc in my back. Not only the was initial pain horrific, but I still suffer with chronic back pain and flare ups as a result.

Dental pain. Labour not particularly painful I have to say but pain caused by dental abcess was a bitch!! Closely followed by chronic ear infection. Urghhhhhhh - bring back bad memories. I had the tooth out in the end and acupuncture cleared up the ear.

Severe kidney infection had me willing myself to pass out so I didn't feel it. If recoil when anyone came near me incase they touched my back.

Also, weirdly- having the coil put in. I was not prepared for that. But my cervix went into spasm and they had to clamp it. Then I went into cervical shock and vomited from the pain.
