Restless legs

HELP 😩 I suffer from endometriosis and so my periods are really irregular but when I do come on I have a night or two where my usual insomnia is even worse because my legs from below my knee to my ankles are are, like really uncomfortable, I can't get comfy at all on them. My auntie always says it's restless legs and it's common which is fine I deal with a lot worse in life but I'm just wondering if anyone had any tips for how they make their legs comfier and deal with it if they suffer 🙏🏻 thank you in advance xxxx

I really feel your pain, restless legs are excruciating.

I would try Magnesium spray first. I have this brand due to a recommendation on here

You can take magnesium supplements, they work really well too. I also have a bath with epsom salts, they are rich in magnesium and you absorb it through your skin. You have to out a lot in though, so I just take 100% Daily allowance every day

Will definately look at magnesium. Thank you everyone. Between this, my insomnia, my Endo and my anxiety issues I'm feeling very fed up and irritated and sorry for myself today. I'm completely exhausted x

It doesn't sound like restless legs to me. It sounds more like fluid retention. I AM NOT A DOCTOR.
I am a long term sufferer of RLS (restless leg syndrome) and it's not painful (for me anyway), it's just a sensation of constantly having to move (not just your legs).
I would see your GP about it.

As ^^ I have RLS and can feel uncomfortable when I have to move all the time but my legs aren’t actually uncomfortable themselves. Get it checked by your GP

i definitely recommend magnesium spray!

also low ferritin/iron can cause restless legs (or to me, restlessness all over my body!!) so perhaps consider an iron supplement? i use solgar “gentle iron” 50mg

Restless legs can also be caused (or made worse) by anaemia so that's something to look at. There are also medications you can take, don't feel like it's not something worth seeing the GP about - it can really affect quality of life.

OH I’m so sympathetic of this. I’m over 40 weeks pregnant and my restless leg syndrome is so much worse - honestly it’s absolutely awful - so I sympathise entirely. Might try this magnesium spray others have mentioned, sounds good.
I’ve been awake for entire nights some nights and it’s the worst part of my pregnancy / nobody knows why.
I’ve got it as I type - I have to sleep in the spare room otherwise my poor husband is awake too.
Massive sympathy with you x

My dh has had restless legs since he was a teenager & has only recently discovered CBD - it's the only thing that helps (he's tried everything over the years )

Thank you everyone for all your replies. It only really affects me during the time of the month, which can be any time with me but I'm going to go and get some magnesium spray. I do actually suffer from aenemic and just been given some new tablets for that so hopefully that will work x

@esk1mo that's interesting as I take Solgar's gentle iron too - religiously for years when I have my period as my energy drops so much and they reverse that effect. It's only recently I've started taking magnesium supplements and that too I believe has made a difference. @mumof2sarah I take the capsules but haven't tried the spray so must look into that. Thanks for this post.

This is my favourite thing about this site... the fact we help each other, we can speak to people going through the same as you.... it doesn't matter if it's a little thing or a huge life thing, we're all there together. I know there's some negatives on the site too but I tend to ignore those. I want to empower and help women as much as I want to be empowered and helped. Have a happy snowy Saturday all of you 😘😘😘😘

Hope your legs aren't causing you too much bother OP. Restless Legs are the worst, and it is good to be able to swap advice.

I am very jealous that you have snow. I keep checking BBC weather but I don't think it will snow here Sad

@RustyPaperclips unfortunately it wasn't the stick snow it just kept fluttering and looking beautiful here like that. We stayed wrapped up in the house watching through the window x

rusty no i havent heard of that, but strangely i used to ask my mum to sort
of sit/put pressure on my legs when i was about 5-7 because it made them feel better.

@RustyPaperclips I always put some pillows underneath and really lean on them onto the pillows and that does ease it slightly x
