Blistery rash on breast, looked like an allergic reaction but now it has crusted

What do you think? Do I need to see a dr?

It came and went for a few days, it looked like the mark around when I had an infected mozzie bite, then in the last couple of days it seems to have "popped" and gone scabby.

My whole boob in general is also itchy (though not where the scabby bit is, more around the side) and there is one particular place that is really sore (on the side, under my armpit), but I'd written that off as being bra related/hormonal until I got really paranoid this morning...

Go to the doctor! Even for peace of mind. But it's best to get thoroughly checked over.

Could it be impetigo

if so you will probably need to see your gp or practice nurse for treatment to clear it up.

Could well be impetigo - I wonder if that could be related to my DS having tonsillitis too, as they're both caused by staph/strep infections...?

I guess I will have to make an appt, I just try to avoid them where possible as I have a load of health problems and spend too much time there already!! Grin

You really need to see a dr. I don't want to scare monger but one type of breast cancer looks like a rash so you need to see to a dr. It could be lots of things but waiting isn't the right thing to do

Herpes simplex virus? Coldsore virus in other words. My mum had this on her leg somehow. Wouldn't clear up without prescribed medication.

Op, see a doc but I really wouldn't give it a second thought that it's a rare type of breast cancer - the one that causes a rash is inflammatory breast cancer which presents as mastitis. Nothing what yours looks like. Also it's very very rare and normally presents with other symptoms very quickly like severe swelling and orange peel skin. The rash is like sunburn.

I had something similar ish to yours recently and worried about the above but it was a simple skin issue and not a breast issue.

Pop to your gp though most def. he will be able to prescribe something.

Also do not google "rash on breast". It will only take you to gloom and doom sites as this is what I did - hence the reason I'm now an expert in breast rashes 😂

Shingles can be located in one side of the body as it follows the line of a nerve.

Thanks all.

Yeah I learnt quite early yesterday that googling wasn't a good idea! Couldn't find anything that looked the same though, even when I moved onto more general rashes.

I don't know if it could be herpes, I've never had a cold sore. Always figured I was immune Grin

Whatever it is, it doesn't appear to be systemic as I feel fine - and I'm immunosuppressed so it's rare that I feel fine!

I've made a drs appt for Monday.

This is how it is today. Is it me or does the "halo" look more angry?

Get a biro (or sharpie - less likely to wash off easily) and draw a line around the redness. That way you can tell if the "halo" gets bigger. It is really tricky to tell otherwise. Your GP will thank you if you can say it is bigger/smaller/the same as on Saturday.

Yes it does look slightly worse than your first pic. Glad you've made an appt. let us know what he says.

Any tingling or pain around the site? It looks a bit like Shingles to me .

Report
randomuntrainedcuntowner · 03/12/2017 09:03

Could be mild shingles, but any skin changes in breasts needs to be checked out

Take these pictures to the doctor too so they can see what’s happening over time

It’s probably nothing to worry about, don’t let the ‘c’ word worry you, when people at work say to me I’ve got this thing and I googled it .... I akways say ‘oh so you’ve got brain cancer I take it’ being silly of course, and it lightens their mood ! because google just makes you think the worst Wink

The pain is like stabbing but is around the other side, under my arm. The itching is on the other side too, but nearer to my nipple.

The actual scab/rash isn't bothering me at all.

I was thinking of drawing round it, but as there's a scab I was worried about getting ink into the wound if it came away.

I had one of these for a long while. Couldn't work out what it was. Turned out to be an ingrown hair which wouldn't heal until it came out. Not saying that's what it is but looks like what I had. Worth a trip to the go though

I'm annoyed at myself that I didn't take a picture of it when it was just red. Bloody hindsight!

I'll see if I can find a picture of what it did look like that I can show the gp...

It was like this (without the bite - I searched 'bite' as I've had similar on my leg before). It was much bigger than the scab now, maybe about 10x the size, and came and went over a few days, before the top of part of it seemed to slough itself off (on my clothes?) and scabbed.

Afaik nothing has bitten me

This is today btw, I'm quite sure the halo is bigger? Or the scab has just shrunk as it's dried and it's making it look bigger...

I realise I'm posting a lot Blush
I'm not overly worried about The C Word, it's the infection risk with my meds that bothers me
