This sounds absurd, Kidney Infection or Bad Back?

The last week I've been suffering with what I thought was a bad back, the lower rear of my back above the hips but below the ribcage has been very sore and achey but no matter how much rest I get it doesn't ease. I cant for the life of me think when or how I may have pulled it.

The last few days however, I've been feeling rather odd. Tired, nauseous, generally fluey, loss of appetite. I've been sleeping a lot and really irritable.
I can 'feel' my inner organs, and I can't normally. They feel a little inflames around my stomach, intestines and I suppose, bladder.

Other than that i'm ok, I'm functioning, i'm not a funny colour, there's no blood in my urine or pain when I pee. I'm loathed to contact a GP tomorrow about 'nothing'.

WWYD?

If you have a kidney stone or kidney infection passing urine is not likely to be sore, and often blood in the urine is only detected by testing and not visible to the eye. As a kidney tone veteran I would suggest seeing your GP. In the meantime drink loads, and take painkillers.

Kidney stone, not tone obviously!

I'd contact your doctor before it has the chance to escalate. I had a kidney infection (unknown) and just got on with it as was very busy with work and uni. After about 48 hours I couldn't walk and had to be picked up from work by my dad Blush A few hours later I was so feverish I was losing sense of reality and pouring with sweat. Even after antibiotics were issued I continued to be in agony and almost delirious for about 12 hours. I now recommend that anyone seeks help if they suspect they have an infection.

Ok! Quite clear advice there. Thanks everyone.

Incidentally, how would they diagnose a kidney stone? Would I have to have an xray?

If your symptoms suggested it and there is blood in your urine they can do an x ray or an ultrasound.
