Hib/Men C booster at 12 months

Any advice would be much appreciated: Dd (12 months) has been called for a Hib/MenC booster and has an appointment tomorrow.

I know this is part of the new schedule, but she has already had the Hib/MenC 3 times as part of the old schedule (at 2, 3 and 4 months) and if she had started out on the new schedule, she would only have had them twice.

Does anyone know if there is a risk of her getting 'too many immunisations' if she now has a forth one? Many thanks!

Hi, I know it is worrying with the amount of jabs they get, but personally mine have had all theirs. DD2 is having her Hib/MenC on Tuesday and although I'm not looking forward to it, at least I know she will have the best possible protection from one type of Meningitis (sp??). I assume that some babies just need an extra does of this vaccine just to ensure they are completely covered, so therefore they give them all 4 doses. In terms of naturally encountered pathogens they will be exposed to many of these on a repeated basis.

Long post, but in summary I tend to feel that the GPs have the best advice when it comes to vaccinations. Get them all done, and your child will be much safer. This is obviously all my opinion and you need to make the decision yourself. HTH and good luck.
