I had a baby 4 months ago and ever since have had awful constipation, my stools are very hard, small lumps and sharp I took Lactulose for a few weeks but didn’t drink enough liquid and it got worse so stopped it. Now I’ve got cuts in my bottom and need to figure out how to let them heal but every time I go it’s making it worse.
I hate the glycerine ones - I use soothing ones for piles which make going to the loo less painful. I also take Laxidose and Dioctyl daily and have done for years, decades even. On the other hand a tin of beans or a tin of prunes will also work!
You don't want more fibre. Yes this can work for constipation but it bulks your poo up and this isn't what you want if you have fissures (cuts).
Go to gp and ask for movicol and an ointment for fissures. Avoid any constipating foods and don't strain. Drink a glass of prune juice every night. Prune juice is your best friend if you have fissures. Best of luck.
drink lots of water. smooth Vaseline on the area. Sennokot on an evening is quite good. Prunes with plain yogurt and a cup of coffee in morning did it for me. I had the tears and cuts, it's painful but doing the above things sorted in a few weeks
