Has anyone been tested for food intolerances/allergies?

I've been having these intolerances since i was very little. I've always called them allergies, actually. I would come up with a very ichy unconfortable rash. My mother worked out that I was reacting to chocolate, artificial vit C, eggs, colourings and a few other things. These reactions became milder and milder and since I was 15 I probably ahd 2 or 3 episodes and was able to eat as much chocolate and the other things as I wanted. However, since dd was born 17 mo ago, I'm permanently reacting to I don't know what... I don't touch what I suspect I'm allergic or intollerant to, but still it doesn't go away... The GP sent me to the allergy clinic but they told me I have intolerances, not allergies (because I don't have an imediate reaction, it takes a couple of days, and all the skin tests were negative) and said there's nothing that can be done....

This rash is really upsetting... sometimes I get it on my face and lips, on the soles of my feet... I find it very distressing, probably due to childhood memories... I really don't know what to do... I'm tempted to pay for private food intolerance testing, but can't really aford to and besides I've read they're very unreliable.

Anyone has any experience in anything similar?

I did a YORK test - they are online ! I paid about £25 for an initial test that you do yourself - pinprick of blood from finger - then post it back to them. They then tell you whether you need further testing - and take the £25 off the full test.I think the full test is about £110 or so !

Have a look at their website -there's lots of info on there !
