My Throat! :-(

I've had a re-uccuring throat pain since January, first time I went to doctors he said it was nothing...second time I went he said it was probably related to my vascular tension...3rd time I went he put me on antibiotics which cleared it for a month or so and now its back again it's driving me nuts, it's not a normal sore throat, its a sharp pain down the right side of my throat, my tonsil at that side is swollen (doctor noticed this last time so thats a good month or so of having swollen tonsils) it's agony every time I swallow. I've just took a max strength throat lozenge and it hasnt touched it at all which is unusual...

I'll go back to doctors tomorow but does anyone have any idea what it could be? I'm worried

There has been loads of really nasty tonsillitis around ATM. Maybe that's it?
Definitely agree you should go back to doctor's. You might have an infection in that tonsil that has not been cleared by the antibiotics. Sometimes the infected material gets stuck in the tonsil and forms an abcess - very painful as you describe. Hope you get it sorted out tomorrow.

DO you suffer from mouth ulcers? .. I had one hidden almost behind my tonsil which could have been caused by a scratch of food or even maybe a fish bone ( so doc said). It was agony and kept blowing up. I had antibiotics, blood tests, throat swabs I just kept mouthwashing, gargling ( if thats how you spell it)and eventually it went... Good luck ..

Fresh sage in boiling water, let it infuse for a while like a tea then gargle with it or drink it as a tea if you can put up with the taste which is quite strong. Works wonders though.

Might be worth a try.

I was talking to somebody yesterday who has an under-active thyroid. She suffered from unexplained sore throats for years befor her GP finally diagnosed it. Think it is quite common especially after pregnancy. It's just an idea.

I usually gargle with soluable asprin, give that a go. It seems to numb the pain.
