Should I be feeding Dh vitamins/supplements?

What does your dh take in terms of vits/supplements? Does it help? How soon? Why does he take it?

My (already knackered) dh has a job interview next week - possibly the first of several. Would vitamins/food supplements help him?

He's - typical bloke - not really into doctors/alternative health, anything like that. Resistant to swallowing pills - but would go along with a limited programme. I've read up a bit about this, but there are so many things you 'could' take!

I want to figure out something that

  • improves his energy short term
  • supports his long term health partic bp
  • not excessive in cost/difficulty/scale/pallaver

I know the short answer is 'talk to a doc/alternative health practitioner luv'. But, I wanted some idea of what other 'real' people do.

He is:
  • mid twenties
  • a vegetarian,
  • teetotal, non smoking, no tea or coffee
  • Generally eats ok healthy; a bit sweet tooth.
  • Currently trying to shift a few Lb.
  • I shove the occassional multivitamin his way, and occassionally give him a echinacea/vitC to boost immunity when bugs go around. Probiotic yogurts, fortified high fibre brekkie cereal
  • he has a rotten tooth which is due for fixing
  • has a moderately stressful desk job that requires a lot of concentration
  • sleep is so so(newborn plus older causing a bit of runaround at night)
  • we live inner city and he commutes, so quite polluted
  • family history of high blood pressure - he seems ok but I wonder if it spikes under stress
  • No significant health symptoms. Currently grotty virus in family. Sometimes bloodshot eyes/ bloodshot patches in the eye
  • Walks 30-90mins every day. no other exercise.

Thank youuu!

I am vegtarian and I take iron every day as I find my energy levels suffer if I don't.

Someone with more know-how will be along soon but that's my take on the whole thing.

Are the liquids iron supps (spatone; fluoradix (?) better than tablets? Do you need a higher dose than a regular multivit, or something?

I take flordix as not animal dervide and easily absorbed by the body. I take this as well as a daily multi vit.

Am surprised you did not get more responses!

It must be all that lemon drizzle cake and ocado-delivered pesto keeping the m'netters tip top healthy and without need of extra vitamins!

sounds like a few early nights and maybe a bit more exercise and you are there.
