ok - here is a question about poo (DS poo not mine !)

DS is 26 months and still rarely does a solid poo. We will need to be potty training soon and this will surely make for some incredibly messy accidents?!

Is this normal? Or is there something I need to include in his diet to 'firm things up a bit'??

I agree with you - this could be awkward. However, it is impossible to say what the problem might be without more information. I would suggest keeping a food diary for a couple of weeks and recording the poos as well, then you might get some ideas to help you correlate the "intake with the output"!

The things most likely to cause runny poos are fruit squashes and juices containing artificial sweetners. Anything "sugarfree".

If he doesn't see to have any pain/cramps it is unlikely to be an intolerance, but I think a food diary is the way to go.

Baggybelly, dd is exactly the same (she's 28 months old). She doesn't have any fruit (unfortunately) and never has anything with artificial sweeteners.

To be honest, I'd never even thought about the potty training side of it

Are you sure they're not solid to start with, but get squashed by him sitting on then (if you see what I mean)
