Went to my GP a couple of weeks ago, was worried that scar had become infected. Sent me home with some gauze and told me to keep it dry and come back if i had any concerns. Was still concerned a week later, slight redness, pains etc.. was sent home again told nothing wrong, again, just keep dry. Tonight after having some on and off pain have looked at my scar and it is definitely very red in one part with some sort of sticky looking stuff there and there is a slight smell - do i go back to the GP again or should i go up to the hospital? Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks.
Bit worried now.

I had that and it cleared up with a course of antibiotics from the doc. Before I could get to the doc I smeared ds's sudocrem on it (which I have since been told I shouldn't have) but it worked for me.

I had the same thing - redness, oozing and a smell. Sounds as if infected - I'd get it checked out. Soon clears up with antibotics though

I got a lot of pains on one side of the scar if I did too much heavy lifting or after driving the car. They say you should be healed after 6 weeks but DS is 10months and I'm still getting the odd twinges!!!

Ooh extra thing I forgot to mention - make up a mild solution of warm salt water and bathe scar in it - does wonders to help and will help keep you ticking over until monday
