My 9 week old daughter's ears are a bit sticky outy and I saw an advert in the Bounty magazine about "ear buddies" - splints to rectify it. Has anyone used them and would you recommend them?
Thanks

I didn't use them but know lots of people that have, all seem happy with the process / results. I know it's best to use them sooner rather than later, as the younger the babies are, the less time they have to wear them for. HTH.

Yes, I used them, wildly expensive for what they are (£50) for two bits of plastic with wires in and some special tape plus extra £ for more tape which you might need with an older baby if you need to splint for a long time, but they do work. If you need extra tape you have to buy it from them as there's nothing similar available in the country.

DS was born with one ear sticking out and looking a lot bigger than the other (it wasn't, one was just more folded up). We tried it on both ears to try to unfold one a bit and fold the other a bit more. The unfolding was less succesful, so we just ended up splinting the more prominent ear, but they're a lot more even now - enough for it not to be an issue for DS. Probably would have been more perfect if we'd kept at it, but we didn't start until 4 mo and then gave up a bit early as it looks pretty ugly and smells unpleasant - you wait until the tape unsticks after a couple of weeks before re-applying, so there's horrible manky smelly gack building up behind the ear meanwhile.

I would recommend them, they work and it's got to be better than years of teasing followed by surgery.
