Ovulation sickness - anyone get this?

bakeitup · 20/08/2017 12:56

Since having children (never happened before) I get really incredibly nauseous around ovulation (feels like morning sickness) and also often the day before my AF starts.

Anyone else get this? It's awful and actually puts me off having another DC, have consisted it but the monthly reminder of how bad morning sickness is just makes me shudder. Interestingly I had hardly any morning sickness with DC1 but quote a bit with DC2 (both girls!) and I between those pregnancies developed getting motion sickness (never before) and started getting these weird hormonal nausea episodes.

Interested to hear if anyone else gets it and if so if you've found a cure...

Ps sorry for typos, predictive typing! Should read that I have considered another DC but have been put off by this.

I get terrible nausea some months sometimes it lasts from ovulation until AF starts, sometimes just the week leading up to AF, sometimes I don't seem to get it at all. I've not had DC yet so can't compare to morning sickness, slightly concerned that it's a pedictor of hyperemisis as I'm thinking its an oversensitivity to progesterone from what I've read.

Yes mine also seems like that, some months almost non existent and others debilitating. Dr prescribed cyclizine but it doesn't really work Hmm

Mine was less of a problem when I was on the pill, hit like a ton of bricks the first few months of ttc. Nearly threw up seeing the meat display in the supermarket the first month, was convinced I was pregnant lol. Never mentioned it to my Dr though.

Hi, I’ve never messaged on a thread before but after looking for answers to my symptoms I’ve come across this one! @bakeitup you’ve discover exactly how I’ve been feeling! It’s like I’ve written it myself, the motion sickness, the bad nausea every month around ovulation. I was just wondering if you’ve had any answers for yours?

Oh my goodness, I’m so glad I’m not alone. Is there anything that can help this? I’m not keen on going back on the pill but I’m thinking this is the only choice if I want some kind of normal life again.

Urgh same! Nausea and really bad wind around ovulation. Oh and horrible anxiety for a few days before and during. Much worse since having my son.

Constipation is common around ovulation, I find prunes help lol. I also get really tired, I find a good 9-10 hour sleep or two sorts me out. Great excuse for an early night IMO. I think its to do with the immune system taking a whack with the hormonal shift, I try and eat clean around then and it does help.

Also eating vegetarian / little and often - starchy carbs like sweet potatoes and carrots, and rice and beans together which make a complete protein. Helps keep blood sugar stable which gets more sensitive around ovulation/periods. I had a period where I felt like I was coming down with something every time I ovulated.

I can't take the pill for medical reasons so I have spent a lot of time working out my hormones/balance!

Hi, all. I came across this thread as I was googling my symptoms. I have spent the last year having lots of blood work, scans and doctor visits to finally be told my problem is something to do with my ovulation. I have noticed that almost every 4 weeks, I have the following symptoms for one day only: lightheadedness, shaky, weak, foggy head, short of breath. Once those symptoms subside I am nauseous for several days after. Does anyone else experience symptoms like this?? It is quite debilitating while it’s happening. The doc has prescribed birth control to see if that helps.

This happens to me every month, and Im in the throws of it now. I get indigestion and naseous for about two days before (right about when my OPK turns positive and then so naseous the day of ovulation. On one hand it reassuring to know what day it happened but also feels awful . On the worst months I also get really anxious and have pretty bad pelvic pains. I spent probably a year or two and some expensive tests with doctors trying to figure what was causing my pelvic pain (they tried telling me I had IC) before I figured it out myself.

Oh my this is exactly what I experience, not every month. After having my 2nd I had a lot of pain during ovulation, they diagnosed scar tissue as I had a difficult birth. They gave me the marina coil. Since then I have the ‘funny turns!’ During what I have now pinned to ovulation. I feel very weak, dizzy, aches and pains to the point my joints struggle to walk, headache, diarrhoea and nausea. I also get a pain in my left shoulder and my pelvic area is sensitive to touch. All I want to do is eat and sleep! It’s not every month, I would say 1 in 3? Has anyone had any luck with anything that helps??

I’m so glad I found this thread, I need some advice so badly before I actually go insane!
So I’m 35, TTC for 3 months. 31 day cycle, due for AF tomorrow.
About a week ago (CD 22ish) I started having really weird symptoms for about a week: nausea in the mornings and super big/sore boobs. I thought maybe that I was pregnant but I’ve done about 100 million tests and they’re all negative. I’ve never felt that way before but after a week it just faded away. All I have now is a bit of nausea and some food aversions. I think it might have been ovulation symptoms?
Has anyone felt like this? Please tell me I’m not going mad!!!

@GGnew that’s exactly me. I came to this thread as this month has been particularly bad - much worse than others

I also had a cold and was worried I had Covid but I don’t.

I’m assuming it’s linked to ovulation as I always get a sore belly.

Me too, it’s only happened in the last few years (48 now, so I assume it’s peri menopausal as I’m still having very regular periods). It’s worse than periods actually: nauseous, constipated, indigestion, tired, headaches.

This is me right now. Every month. Sore belly, running to the loo a lot including during the night so I get no sleep and end up with a migraine.

Are there any supplements that would help?

Like others have said, i only really feel ok for a week in the month. It's miserable.

So glad I found this threat. Around ovulation I can feel really really ill. Sick, exhausted, pain and completely fuzzy headed. Makes me feel very down as well. Need to take solpedeine as that peps me up a bit but even that not working this month. The fatigue is horrendous

I’m so glad I found this as I’ve been noticing I feel this way every single month. Fatigue, headaches, dizziness, sometimes I feel like my heart is pounding out of my chest. It’s always around this time of my cycle, I actually feel better when I’m on my period. Have you found anything that works to relieve this? I’m debating going back on the pill as well just so I don’t have to suffer through it every month.

I’ve spent ages googling my symptoms and am so pleased I found this thread as started to think I was going mad and this wasn’t a a thing!
My periods came back 4 months ago and since then every month just before ovulation I get unwell for around 5 days, to the point where I have to go to bed as soon as the kids do. I feel sick, wee more and my bladder feels a little sensitive and I am absolutely wiped out, but then all goes back to normal. I didn’t know if maybe it’s something to do with hormones as I’m still breastfeeding or my age as I’m nearly 40. We’re ttc so I hope it doesn’t affect that although the fact that all I want to do is sleep isn’t helpful!
Interested if anyone has any suggestions of natural remedies, I think I’m going to cut down caffeine next month and see if that helps
