Hi guys
Long story short I had a very traumatic horse riding accident end of June 16.
Which resulted in a grade 2 mcl sprain!! I was on crutches for 3 months with a full leg brace! I had a MRI and X-ray which consultants have said nothing wrong is showing up apart from the mcl!! Long story short I had physio which got me of crutches and walking but my knee is no where near fixed it locks gives way and I get pain that bad I could cry!! Went back to see icat today which was as much use as a chocolate tea pot!! I've basically been told I shouldn't have stopped physio (I was signed off) and that I have serious muscle wastage!! And that I have to go back to physio has anyone else had this problem I feel like something is wrong with my actual knee but it seems no one is listening to me which I'm finding it getting me down!! I can't ride as can get on horse but not off. Can't do what I normally do especially swimming as this causes my knee to constantly give way!! Can anyone shed any light or advice to get docs to actually listen to me

Sorry for long post just a very frustrated jockey who can't get back on my horse

I am on crutches due to a knee injury and do understand your frustration!.

I am not a medic but the knee locking is similar to what I had from a meniscus tear injury. I think they can happen quite often when the MCL is injured.

You can have surgery for a meniscus tear but that can also causes other issues so physio is a good place to start.

What do you want from your doctors? I don't understand from your post why you think they aren't listening to you. It sounds as if they have agreed that you have an MCL injury, which will only get better with rest and physiotherapy. There isn't an operation or pill that's going to solve the problem quickly.

I did this 13 months ago I had physio every week for 5 months and also did the exercises at home for the last 8 months the doctors signed me off physio saying my mcl had recovered and that I no longer needed to do anything!! I'm not stupid I know a pill isn't going to fix this but as stated physio was stopped and nothing else was done now I have severe muscle wasting and dislocation of the knee also a ? Over my mcl not actually being 100%!!Which they are now saying they haven't a clue why this is happening And that I need more physio to see if that helps which is why I'm cheesed off as to why it was stopped in the first place!! I just wanted to know if anyone else had a similar situation I.e muscle wasting as being a mother to 4 kids I can't do much because my leg won't allow me
