Im going to go to the GP next week but I'm curious to know what mumsnetters think as you lot tend to point in the right direction.

Im 36, exhausted all the time (have 2 young children so don't sleep but its bone shattering exhaustion not just tiredness), extremely dry skin on my where it cracks the whole time, weigh gain and an inability to loose weight, increased thirst and I need to go to the loo frequently. Initially I thought this was because I'm still breastfeeding and that makes me thirsty but I must be drinking 3-4 litres of fluid a day and the baby only has 3-4 small feeds now. I'm also feeling a bit depressed but that's explainable by life circumstances. My periods are heavy and clot, a lot.

I went to gp a few months ago and diagnosed with folate defincinency, iron deficiency and vitamin d deficiency. I've been on tablets for those since. Initially they made a big difference but now I'm back to feeling awful even though I'm still taking them. I'm due a repeat blood test for these.

Could be the change, could be fibroids, are your feet itchy?

Inneedofadvice20172234 · 25/06/2017 10:25

I've had a private ultrasound scan as I was worried about the clotting but everything was fine - no fibroids, no cysts.

No not itchy just so so dry.

I should also say I've was extremely stressed about 6 months ago so that's not helped matters but everything is sorted now so can't understand why my body failing me and continuing to gain weight!

B12 deficiency, Thyroid problems and diabetes are all easy enough to rule out.

Do you have any gut feelings?

Heratnumber7 · 25/06/2017 10:40

Diabetes sprang to my mind.

Or a crap diet (excusable-ish) with little kids.

Inneedofadvice20172234 · 25/06/2017 12:11

I had a basic blood test when they found the folic acid, iron, vit d deficiency - would that have tested for diabetes too?

My diet isn't too bad but I could be improved.

B12 deficiency also a possibility but again would that have been tested for?

Gut feeling I would have thought thyroid but tsh was fine

If they tested for vit D (hard to get tested as it's expensive) they will have tested for b12 - ask for a copy of your results as just ok for a lot lettings is not enough (iyswim)

It maybe that you need more D than you are taking or a different combination of supplements

Worth checking thyroid. Can have problems with that and vitamin deficiencies together too
