About ten days after the first day of my period i get a pain in my right groin. usually lasts about 12 to 24 hours can be quite severe at times (but not so bad that paracetamol dont help) and sometimes i feel just generally under the weather during this time. I am pretty confident that it is ovulation because it is a regular as clock work type pain..... i am just concerned as to why it is always on the same side.......... also have only had it since my periods returned after birth of first ds about 14 months ago.

Oh, I have exactly the same thing! But have always had it (pre- and post-kids).

No idea what it is tho. Assume it can't be life-threatening as I've had it for at least 20 years.

I get this too, and only on my right side- I read somewhere (might have been the forums on www.obgyn.net which are medical advice places for gynae stuff, even if a bit american) that it's quite common for the ovulation pain some women feel- called "mittelschmerz", apprently german for middle-pain- to only be felt on one side, and that it's an urban myth that one side ovulates one month, then the other side the next.
Mine feels like a cross between trapped wind and period pain. Lasts about half a day then it's gone.

Hope this helps.

Perfectly reasonable. I assumed that it was alternate, but aparently, its not!

My ovulation pain was/is only on my right side, even when I have ovulated on the left side (I know cos I once had a scan and the doc mentioned that he could see the follicle on the left).

Yes. You dont automatically ovulate from both sides each month.

Fascinating isn't it? I would be regular each month and would ovulate around day 14. The pain does sometimes switch sides but now when I think of it, it is usually on the right side. Don't panic and take a paracetamol if its really sore.
