What is classed as a heavy period these days?

First period since an ERPC on 3rd April so wasn't expecting an easy ride of it but today has been horrible. I've been emptying a full mooncup every hour or so. This is heavy even by my standards. Do I need to worry?

That does sound heavy. I personally would class a heavy period as one that was much heavier than usual but I think officially you need to seek medical advice if you're soaking a pad in a hour or less. Not sure how that translates to Mooncup use though.

Thanks. Feel really wiped out and unable to go to bed as having to change everything still every 60-90mins. If I leave it longer in then flood the pad I'm using as double up. My husband got in 15mins ago from work and said i look like death (love you too darling!) If it goes on to morning I'll see the Dr I don't feel right either

That sounds rather heavy to me.

I had an unexpected and unusually heavy period a while back and rang NHS direct. They asked how quickly I was soaking through (every hour) and how big the clots were when I took a tampon out (they were 50p sized).

Based on that, they advised me to see my OOH GP, who took my BP and decided I was ok but prescribed tranaxemic acid to slow the bleeding.

So you wouldn't be over reacting to phone your OOH if you're worried and struggling to cope. In the meantime, keep your feet up, and drink plenty.

I feel your pain, I've gone through an entire pack of night-time towels since midnight (doubling them up because blood loves to sneak out the back, especially when you're curled up on the sofa) and have passed probably a dozen large clots. The best bit? I've already taken two doses of tranxemic acid. And I only stopped bleeding on the 1st after two months of bleeding with the mirena in. Until the fucking thing fell out a fortnight ago.

Nhs direct told me to ring my gp who told me to carry on with the tranxemic acid. He told me to go to A&E if I felt faint. I've got a proper appointment with the docs today. So. Fed. Up.

Think I'm going to have to go to the Drs this morning. I made the mistake of falling asleep and now think I need a new mattress this is ridiculous. What on earth does my body think it's doing?

Just had a telephone consult. Drugs been sent to the pharmacy if no better tomorrow then to ring back for an alternative. I love my gp surgery they're so efficient!

This was me last year, left it for four days then collapsed!! You may have retained products, did you bleed a lot during procedure? The surgeon said that's how they'd missed parts of mine. Make sure you get checked out!

Headachey and wiped out and my lips went white earlier which worried dh. 2 doses of tranxemic acid and I'm able to go 3 hours without flooding now so I think it's slowing down. I feel shit.
