Stopping periods for a holiday when on the pill

I used to be on cerelle/cerezette, had been totally period free for years and years, I was then diagnosed with diabetes, I cured it, lost loads of weight and now I have really irregular bleeding, no warning, little pattern.

I am still on cerelle and want to know if it's worth going to the gp to try and stop my period for my holiday abroad in July?

This is the huge downside of losing loads of weight!!!
