Blocked ear - or am I going deaf?

For ages now one of my ears has felt slightly blocked - it is definitely not ear wax. I am often clearing my throat and seem to produce excess mucus so now wondering if there is some connection. Has anyone else experienced something similar - or am I just going deaf? I often miss bits of conversation, particularly if there is background noise.

I get a blocked feeling that is sometimes wax, sometimes allergy inflaming/swelling the eustachian tubes in my ears? Also (sorry tmi) the mucus drip making my throat sore and blocked nose (I get the ear thing when I eat dairy, eggs or avocado, but I am odd).

That's interesting - I did try giving up dairy for a while but it didn't make any difference unfortunately.
