Diverticulitis - please help

My Mum has severe diverticulitis, been hospitalized with the pain several times, had many colonoscopies (which just confirm that's what she has). The problem is it can strike at any time, and she has no idea what brings it on. Has anyone experienced this? Is there anything you can recommend from a diet/medication perspective. The doctors can't seem to do anything, they just treat the pain reach

you need to nag your doctor for advice. Also the NHS website has some useful stuff. For me, and I think this is normal, the pain means something has got trapped in the saggy bit of the bowel and that can then become infected which is ghastly. . For me they tell me if it starts to get sesntive move to a light diet ...like mash and white fish , low fibre and low fat. Boring and beige! They have also given me some type of laxitive laxitide to use whenever, so ensure that everything keeps moving through the system, so that nothing sits in the saggy bit but gets flushed out quickly. The rest of the time, usual healthy diet, lot s of fruit and veg. Jury out o nuts and seeds. I need to avoid diary... it was "if it helps even a bit just make sure you get calcium " . But nag the doctor for how to manage the basic divicular problem.. my doctors have been really helpful.
