Recovery after Fentons procedure

Hi, I had a Fentons procedure 3 days ago after I was overstitched by 1cm following my episiotomy during the birth of my son 3.5 years ago. It had been causing me pain during sex and some bleeding in a paper cut type line along my perineum. So the gynae consultant has cut the 1cm excess web of tissue and stitched it to stop it reattaching again. Sorry if that's TMI....

I was hoping for some reassurance regarding recovery times as it is agony at the moment, it feels aching and heavy when I stand and it burns and stings when I sit down. I can't sit down normally, more a loll over on to one buttock or the other. To top it off, I've got into bed and it's now agony lying down now too. I've been rinsing with water after weeing and patting dry. I'm taking paracetamol and ibuprofen alternately.

If anyone has had any experience of similar, can you please reassure me that it will get better as it feels like it's getting worse and I'm almost confined to lying down doing nothing which I am hating.

Hi MrsS0309, I had the same procedure done yesterday under local anaesthetic, for what sounds like very similar reasons to you - overstitching after episiotomy which left me with too much scar tissue and a web of skin obstructing the vagina :-( I can't offer much in the way of reassurance about recovery times but wanted to let you know you're not the only one going through this right now and I know how you're feeling!

I am also very sore and have found the only place I can sit down comfortably to be the toilet! Putting a soft pillow on the sofa and sitting on that is helping a bit, and lying on my side is ok too. I've spent most of today standing or walking just so I don't have to face the pain of sitting down, but I get what you mean about the heaviness in the area when you're stood up :-(

I've been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen together every 4 hours which seems to be doing the trick so if you're not already doing that I would recommend it. Also maybe try a warm bath? I intend to have one later. Other than that, happy healing and I hope you feel a lot better soon!
