How much ear wax is too much for a 12mo?

I have 12 month old twins and one has, what seems like, an awful lot of ear wax building up.
Any time of day there will be an orangey/brown tinge around his ear holes (forgive my lack of proper ear terminology!) and every two days a large glob of it stuck just above his ear lobes (in the little nook bit) in a small ball half the size of a rice crispy.
His brothers ears are completely clear.

I know ear wax is healthy, but how much is too much?

Wow my description was really awful. I've taken a photo of my own ear and scribbled over where the wax is Grin the lighter colour is like a tinged thin layer of wax around the hole and the little glob is where it collects in a hard ish ball.

I have a 10 year old like this. His ears make me feel sick! He has always been like it, he's had his hearing checked as they thought it could affect it but it's ok. He suffered a lot with ear infections as a toddler but it doesn't seem to bother him now. He's not keen on a cotton bud so I stick a corner of the towel in and twist it as he gets out the shower!

It's too much if it causes a problem.

I have oodles of wax and also narrow ear canals so they get blocked a lot. But if they didn't get blocked it wouldn't be an issue. Ear wax naturally works its way out so the fact it's coming out is good.

My DS has always had really runny wax. Always globs of it around his ears! He's 8 now and I think it's getting less runny. Apparently it's healthy though- no wax stuck inside to affect hearing --like my DD
