Weird symptoms - please help diagnose me

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 28/04/2017 16:35

I feel cold and achey all over as if coming down with a heavy cold - but no other cold symptoms.

My fingers are swollen. Not hugely, but noticeably. My fingers and wrists are particularly achey.

I have a rash on my lower legs, but nowhere else. It looks like shaving rash, but I had all my leg hairs lasered off ages ago so haven't shaved in weeks. The rash doesn't blanch with pressure.

Slight fever, well controlled with Ibuprofen.

The symptoms have lasted for 48 hours so far, largely unchanged.

Is this anything to worry about?

Any non blanching rash needs assessment

Really? I'm a single parent and have no-one to look after the children.

It doesn't feel like an emergency.

Have you called NHS 111? X

Report
chaz777 · 28/04/2017 17:31

Might be worth calling them first to see if you could speak to a GP over the phone. X

Allergic reaction? Rheumatoid arthritis? Go to the GP! Hmm

I can't get my head around these threads. Go to the GP, or pharmacist at least.

Random internet diagnoses - lupus?

I'm trying to avoid having to go out anywhere with three small children. Hence the thread.

I guess what I was hoping for was people to say "no change in 48 hours, sounds minor, it can wait until next week but will probably have gone by then".

You have a non-blanching rash, a fever, feel cold and achey/fluey all over. You need to see a doctor, today. It's impossible to tell what it is from your description.

Yup. Not going to happen. The earliest I can get to a doctor is next Friday.

I think you need to see a dr tonight.

Cellulitis? Allergy?

Is the hand swelling on one side only?

Report
ChaChaChaCh4nges · 28/04/2017 18:20

Please would people advise me what to look out for in terms of deterioration?

Can you ask a neighbour to sit when your kids are asleep and go to ooh?

Can you measure your heart rate?

I think you'd know when you start to feel worse but I think you need to call 111 and explain your symptoms at least even if you don't go to appointment you can speak to a GP on the phone.

I can't see a doctor tonight. I have no friends, no family, and XH who ignores my texts.

No itching so unlikely to be an allergy. No spreading so unlikely to be cellulitis.

The swelling is in all my digits evenly. It's only slight.

Jesus you really need to see someone. I get its tough as a lone parent but you HAVE to find a way. Phoning out of hours or NHS direct will be a start. If you need to be seen a way will be found. I'm a lone parent too. I understand
But if its serious and you don't take advice the consequences could be far worse.

The ibuprofen may be masking other symptoms. You should speak to "out of hours" especially as a single parent with three small children.
