question for coil users?

So when fitted I didn't really check to know how the strings feel.
Have DTD several times since (but not lots as baby still exhausting us) but not a huge amount of times.
Last night OH freaked out that something had stabbed him...
I had a bit of a feel around and I can feel the strings and that they do feel more hard and plasticky than I expected but I didn't think I could feel the actual coil - but I (ahem) wasn't as lubricated and ready for it as last night...
Question is - do I need to see GP to have it refitted or is it likely that he's just feeling the strings? If it is the strings can your OH's also feel them during sex - do they just get used to it?

The strings can be stabby at first, but then they tend to soften up and also to sort of curl around the tip of your cervix. It takes a few weeks after having one fitted for them to get properly out of the way, in my experience. They are a bit like washing-up brush bristles in texture.

The strings are made from the same stuff as fishing line, so that might give you an idea of texture.. .

You can get them cut shorter you know

You can get them trimmed. I found doggy style tended to be worst for exH. Deeper maybe? Or around period time maybe my cervix was softer? Getting them trimmed helped.

I was told that getting them cut shorter made the problem words, and that it was better to leave them long so they would curl around the cervix?

To be fair they have been in a while (we are only just getting round to the sex part!) so clearly haven't curled.
Might try and have another go with DH before Tuesday morning when the GP phone lines open, and if still not feeling right will see if all is in place correct and whether they can be shortened...
