So. Whole family had norovirus last week - I wasn't sick unlike the others but I was thoroughly ahem emptied.
I swear I saw rice crispies circa 1989 in there ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
I am now very constipated.
I've been eating fruit and rice cakes and bland stuff but I haven't been for what week now..
Been taking lactose twice a day and took senna last night but still no movement ๐Ÿ˜ž
Ive got some laxido from my mum...should I take it?
I'm so uncomfortable ๐Ÿ˜ž

Your insides have taken a bashing and some of the foods you've described (rice for example) can cause constipation.

You can try movicol. Its not a 'quick fix' but will work after a day or too. Alternatively you coukd try a suppository from the chemist?

I always find that Senna doesnt work for me unless I take about 6....

After childbirth I was constipated - partly scared to go I think! (Nasty tear)
Glycerin suppository fixed it, and it wasn't as bad as I expected.

Are you drinking enough? Try and drink your way through a carton of orange juice.

I was seriously constipated in pregnancy and drank a glass of pride juice every morning. I worked absolute wonders. It tastes rank but really works.

Thank you mnhq

Seconding prune juice. It tastes of prunes, so not awful and you can dilute it too. Big glass full of ice and half and half prune juice and no plans to be away from the loo for the rest of the day and you'll be right as rain.

Bloody awful constipation is flowers

I had something similar once. I got so pissed off with it after 5 days I just took a laxative. Worked a treat.

Kiwi fruit, skin on

Badders123 Thu 06-Apr-17 10:35:52 sachet of laxido and 2 suppositories and nothing ๐Ÿ˜ณ
When is this a dr job?

IHaveOtherNames Thu 06-Apr-17 10:40:59

I have to take laxido daily otherwise I'd never go. If you're impacted to can take up to 8 sachets, 1 won't do much.

Badders123 Thu 06-Apr-17 10:47:28

Right...will get some more

Piehunter Thu 06-Apr-17 10:49:46

Yeah laxido takes a day to work even with 4+ sachets for me. You're better off trying a good few sachets of laxido/Movicol before going to drs. As pp said, you can take up to 8 a day. You could try dulcolax/bisacodyl, as that's a stimulant laxative (like senna, but I find it works better than senna). You've been on a low residue diet which is intended to make less waste to produce anyway, so it's different from not going to the loo for a week on a normal diet.

So lots of laxido/Movicol (always make sure you mix directly with water, you can add cordial after its mixed totally with the water) a basic constipation tablet from almost anywhere will be bisacodyl, and continue with the water. Soluble fibre is your friend also, avoid bulk like bran etc for now as it may bloat you further and make you more uncomfortable.

3 sachets more to go.
I will Also take a senna tonight.
Sooooo uncomfortable ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

CatThiefKeith Thu 06-Apr-17 17:20:32

2 suppositories and nothing? I had two after Dd was born. Hadn't been for 10 days but took those and about half an hour later they worked.

I swear my feet left the floor and the toilet seat rattled!
