Tingling lip but no cold sore?

I've never had a cold sore that I recall. In November, I tried to do my own lip wax Blush (not worth the few quid I saved!) and ended up with a rash on my lip. It felt tingly and itchy and was a bit red and puffy but it was definitely directly related to the wax strips I used. Now I've got the tingling and itching again for several days but no cold sore has ever appeared. And no bumps or spots or blisters around my mouth, inside my lips, or on my nose.

I have had allergic reactions to toothpastes and skin creams before and recently used a new lip balm, but the tingling is just on one side on the top of my lip so it's got me to wondering whether this could be a cold sore? DH doesn't have any and I'm fairly certain neither of us is kissing anyone else. Loads of my colleagues have them and I'm wondering whether I might have picked one up from sharing the office telephone? Confused

xx

In think they can lie dormant for many years. The trauma of the waxing may have kicked off an 'episode'.

You can't catch a cold sore from.a telephone.

Thank you. Just seems a bit cheeky as I'm 35 and never had it until the lip wax and then again after using a new lip balm...and never develops a blister. Will watch and wait to see if anything pops up this time.

Anyone else have a tingly lip and no blister? Any way to check if it is herpes? Avoiding kissing DH for now but not sure how long to avoid.

Chances are if you've been together many years, you've both got it anyway. Most people have but don't get an outbreak until something triggers it.

I get cold sores and I think certain lipsticks and lipglosses have triggered them before.

I'd get something like zovirax or blistex and put some on now before you get a break out.

I currently have a cold sore in my nostril. Not visible but fuck me I hate them. Get some Zovirax in just in case. Also hand sanitizer is amazeballs for stopping mine coming out and getting rid if I wake up with one.

If you do end up with a coldsore I highly recommend the compeed patches. They are like a little plaster that covers the coldsore. It prevents the blisters from becoming scabby and ime reduces recovery time. Also less chance of passing it on!

Thank you. I am remembering that a stranger recently greeted me with a big sloppy kiss on the side of the face, perhaps it was that Confused

Tingling is a bit better today but my lip feels a bit hot and still no blisters...
