Urgent! On holiday - DH loose tooth - wants to yank it 😣

There must be a dentist on Mumsnet!

We are on holiday and going on a Caribbean cruise tomorrow. DH is 51, 35yrs smoker until finally gave up last year, was diagnosed with severe periodontal disease THREE years ago but never followed up with the recommended treatment. I know His dad has the same profile and had 3! teeth just drop out before starting to see dentist. I know

I have made DH an appointment with my dentist 2 days after we get back BUT his increasingly loose front tooth is bothering him so much that he just declared he wants to pull it out!!!

Really he wants me to do it!!!

I'm frantically Googling and hoping Mumsnet can help!

He thinks rum would help but surely alcohol would make him bleed more?

We have travel insurance but I can't see anything about dentists. We are in Florida so anything's going to be mega expensive here but what will small islands have? Had a previous bad experience with cruise ship doctors so don't have much faith in them helping.

TL:DR
DH front tooth last minute dental crisis.
Should I mind my own?
Pull his tooth out?
Wait for it to drop out naturally - he thinks it won't stay until we return.
Move heaven & earth to find a late night dentist in a strange place?

I asked him to at least Google how to safely do it. He has taken his phone into bathroom. I am scared what he's up to in there Shock

Could you contact your travel insurance to find out what they cover? Would be worth an ask I'd have thought?!
I'm no dentist, but I'd be inclined to say that self treatment was a massively bad idea, especially when medicated with rum! Alcohol can sometimes prevent clotting, and you wouldn't want to be caught out on a cruise?

He organised the insurance! We had words before he locked himself in bathroom. I don't want to poke the beast!!!

I think he should find a dentist and pay what's needed.
