I am on long term prednisilone, enteric coated. Recently increased the dose. Take 10mg omeprazol daily. Suffering awful burning reflux. Dont know whether to sit, stand or what. I am not in the UK and it is the middle of the night here. (On holiday).
What can I do?
Any medics or pharmacists around?
TIA.

I take 20mg omeprazole daily. If I get a bad spell the GP said to double the dose to 2 tablets (40mg) daily for 2 weeks. And that usually fixes it.
I'm not a medic but if there aren't any interactions between your medicines then I can't see that doubling your dose of Omeprazole would do any harm.

i have taken 80mg of omeprazole when desperate on occasion. i also always take ranitidine / zantac with me because is quite fast acting.

i have weaned myself off this medication through diet. i don't know if that's something you could explore but by being careful with what i eat at night i now don't take anything. if i go out to a restaurant and eat my trigger foods, a rennies sets me right.

5 years ago i would have told myself to get lost - i would never have believed i could get to this point.

good luck. is awful Flowers

I have been on high dose prednisilone and was on AT LEAST 20mg in fact at my highest steroid dose (75mg) I was on 40mg. SO absolutely increase your dosage. If a couple of weeks doesn;t get it under control and you can reduce the dose again go back and see your GP

And drink plenty of water, it sort of diluted the acid a bit and didn't provoke it.

Make a GP appointment and ask about increasing your omeprazole dose

When you take it, try taking it an hour before you eat

Add Gaviscon Advance after eating, up to 4 x a day (check with your GP but it's over the counter AFAIK)

Keep a food/symptoms diary to try to pinpoint anything that's a bad trigger

Try to leave at least 3 hours between eating and going to bed

Try putting books under the head of your bed to tilt the bed a little

Poor you. That's miserable.

Trying to sleep sitting up helps me sometimes in your situation. Is there a doctor or pharmacist you could talk to where you are tomorrow?

I take 40mg of omeprazole daily, which usually keeps things under control but the consultant said to take an extra 20g dose if needed. When you get home, talk to your doctor about whether it's okay to boost your dose if things get bad.
