Were you offered the option to donate cord blood?

As you may have seen from other threads, I'm involved in a campaign at the moment looking for a stem cell donor for my friend Ruby (www.registerforruby.com) but I came across the figures below.

It seems extraordinary to me that more mothers aren't given this choice. I certainly wasn't - apparently only 5 hospitals in the U.K. offer cord blood collection.

A petition has been started on this issue (https://www.change.org/p/jeremy-hunt-secretary-of-state-offer-every-mother-the-opportunity-to-save-a-life-through-cord-blood-donation) asking Central government, the NHS and the NMC to look at this issue. I'd really encourage you to read, sign and share.

Plus obviously sign up as an adult stem cell donor wink
