I think I've just had (having/got) an anal prolapse. I'm 25 weeks pregnant and was feeling a bit constipated so went to the toilet for a "try" and was succeeding but then when I though I'd finished it felt like there was lots of poo (TMI sorry) left I had a look in the bathroom mirror and it was like a big rubber ring round my bum hole. I'm sorry sorry this is gross but I'm panicking like a crazy person. I pushed it back with a baby wipe and it's gone. No blood no pain, but now I don't know what the hell is going to happen when I next need a poo. I could cry I'm so scared. Should I do something? I've googled but can't really find an answer. Please someone help.

It's probably piles. Very common in pregnancy.
Don't worry!

Sounds like piles to me too. As above very common. Unfortunately once you've had them you become more prone but try not to strain on next pooing to give it chance to heel. No blood. No pain. I wouldn't panic. But it is a miserable thing to contend with x

Thanks so much for your replies. I went to the GP today and I am the proud owner of two little hemorrhoids. I've got prune juice and Fybrogel (?) and my fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

OP, it sounds like a partially prolapsed bowel. The secrets to preventing it happening again are:

Don't strain.
Keep your stools soft.
Drink plenty of liquid.
Do your good old pelvic floor exercises. Research the technique in a book or online and commit to doing them every day. Smile

Oh! I thought pelvic floor exercises were more for vaginal issues, I'll start them tomorrow. I've just managed a whole glass of prune juice without throwing up everywhere so I'll try anything. Thanks so much.

Give them names and they won't gross you out as much!! My friend had one and we called it Harriet the hemorrhoid and used to talk about it with some fondness!!
