Lump on my breast

Hi Mums

I was washing under my arm in the shower today and so my arm was lifted in the air and I felt a sort of firm lump at the top of my right breast. It wasn't a small lump it was more of a flat hard area in my breast, when I let my arm drop though, I can't feel it any more.

I am going to phone the doctor tomorrow to book an appointment as I think it'll be worth checking just to be on the safe side, and naturally I was a little worried about this discovery. I did have a baby last year and breastfed for a few months but stopped ages ago so obviously haven't been producing milk. I got my sister to feel it too and she could feel it straight away too as soon as I lifted my arm up.

I was wondering if anyone has any similar cases where they've found a lump, had it checked and it has been okay? Could it be something to do with previously breastfeeding? I am a little scared but will definitely get it checked out.

Thanks

Something like 90% of breast lumps are benign. So chances are it's a cyst or similar. You will be referred to a breast clinic in all likelihood and will be seen within two weeks. I saw GP on Tuesday for breast pain, he found a lump that I hadn't felt and referred me. Breast clinic appt is on Thurs.

I would stay away from googling things tbh!

90% benign as DC says above.
I had a lump like that when I was in my 20s.
It was removed but benign.

I have this. Some women can get breast tissue that develops in your arm pit. I had mine screened recently as it has changed with the approach of menopause. It is all fine. Go to the GP and the breast clinic should see you within two weeks.
