Period pain, but mid cycle?

It's a bit of a weird one, but I came off my period a week ago and I keep getting really bad period type cramps and one sided pain on my right hand side (in the crook of my hip) that varies in intensity. Sometimes it'll take my breath away, sometimes it's just a niggle. It keeps coming and going; I had my appendix out two years ago, and it kind of feels the same.

I do have a laparoscopy in March though, because my gynaecologist thinks I have endometriosis. Could the random period type cramps be part of that? I've never had pains as bad as this before, it's usually just a dull ache; not an intense cramping and the sharp pain in my side...

Thanks all! Flowers

Any pain that is cyclical in nature and/or gets worse up to and including menses should be investigated further to see if endometriosis is present. FWIW I had that sort of pain and in my case endometriosis was the underlying cause.

Was a similar sort of pain responsible for you having your appendix out?.

I hope the lap gives you some answers; I would insist on you being given a follow up appointment a week or so post op to discuss the findings. Being told anything whilst you are in the recovery room is bad practice.

That sounds like mittelschmertz. You're possibly ovulating.

Is it ovulation pain or after ovulation?

I had this sort of pain and it was due to endometriosis. It was particularly bad during ovulation, as my right ovary had a 7cm endometrioma on it. Mine was initially misdiagnosed as appendicitis, so the presentation must be very similar.

The laparoscopy should confirm whether it's endometriosis.

This website/forum is a really good resource for endo, if it is that - particularly around the treatment pathway and different options for managing the condition.

I hope you get some answers and treatment soon!

I'm going through this too. Docs thought I had kidney stones (apparently similar type of pain), but ultrasound revealed fibroids. I had endometriosis in my 20s and the pain from the fibroids is much much worse. (Not that endo is a picnic).

Thank you everyone for your responses.

Attila, it was similar pain that led to me having my appendix out, yeah; and it did turn out to be Appendicitis. I then had a similar, but not as bad pain on my left which turned out to be a cyst on my L ovary. So I'm possibly wondering whether it could be a cyst again but on my right side. Only thing is, is the pain on my right side is slightly worse than the pain I had when my cyst on my left ovary. If all that makes sense?
I think I will be having a follow up appointment after my surgery...

Pick & Sorrel - I've done an ovulation test just in case and its negative. Not even a hint of a line...

Thank you for the website TheCustomary, I'll be taking a look at that!

Jammy, fibroids isn't something that's been mentioned. Last time I had a scan was this time last year, so who knows what's going on?! My lap should tell me more in March, but it just seems so far away when I'm struggling now!

Sorry to hijack this thread but what type of pain etc have you been feeling exactly??
I'll explain - I'm under go at mo because my periods over last 6 mths have dropped off to barely even a day and dark brown not red.
Gp tested hormones for early menopause (36) they were normal so he told me to come off pill (micrgynon 18yrs) for a few months.
I came off it and within the week I had pain in low pelvic area like where my bladder is or like the front muscle was sore?! And having pain in lower left and right side. Totally lost my appetite was very lethargic and frequent bowel movements.
It's a week since that and still feel same just not as intense
