Yesterday I had a whole host of blood tests done and when called today for results receptionist said all were normal apart from my folate was high.... I was tested for the usual liver kidney fbc and thyroid glucose etc but also b9 b12 and folic acid.. To check for a deficiency.. I'm not sure if all are back but the ones that were were all okay apart from that one.. Anyone know why this would be high? I don't eat much veg Infact I'm overweight and my diet has been poor although recently started dieting.. Any insight would be great 😁 thanks

That's an impressive turnaround time, my practice generally takes 7-10 days!

You can ask for a printout of your results to keep for your own records so you can see how high they're talking.

My understanding is that if cobalamin (B12) is fine then there is no concern with high folate, so I'd be looking at the relationship between the two.

At my GP surgery they have just announced that they won't hand out print outs of blood tests, even when you tell the receptionist you need the results to fill in your patient-held blood monitoring booklet issued by hospital consultant. Pretty daft really, because it forces you to make a precious GP appointment just to ask for a print out of yr blood test. Confused

How daft!

My GP pre-authorises in my notes though that I can have a printout so the receptionists can't argue otherwise.
