right, his case for a heart was re-presented to the surgons last week, as he has been waiting a long time, and in reality he is getting worse again. so from now on, when a matching heart comes up he should be offered it first above anyone else.

he has to be reassessed for transplant at the end of march, and they also upping one of his meds (carvidolil) to ease some pressure on his heart and give it a bit more ooophm!

fingers crossed for you, misdee

So let me get this right....before it was just a case of luck if he was offered a heart due to others with similar/same blood types etc and now he should get the first offer?
How am I doing?

Spidermama Tue 27-Feb-07 19:11:07

Such a long wait misdee. It must be so hard not knowing if and when things might happen. This looks hopeful though. I keep imagining that one day I log on to MN and there's a thread about you and the girls visiting him as he recovers from his heart transplant.

misdee Tue 27-Feb-07 19:13:39

pretty much it PC. usully, there is a 'pool' of recipitants who have similar height, weight blood group wetc, and its just a mini-lottery.

but as long as no-one needs it medically more than peter (ie gonna drop dead i na matter of weeks if they dont get it) then he should get it.

he can on ly have type O, so hope a Otyp comes soon

PersonalClown Tue 27-Feb-07 19:14:56

See?! I do learn from you! It's all filtering in.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker Tue 27-Feb-07 19:33:40

Glad there's an updated plan misdee. He's been languishing on that list far too long.

It's time for the call.

suejonez Tue 27-Feb-07 19:33:59

but although he can only have type O, type O is the most common isn't it? I presume it works like blood transfusions.

That sounds promising, glad you have had some good news for a change Misdee

franca70 Tue 27-Feb-07 19:38:47

everything crossed misdee

misdee Tue 27-Feb-07 19:39:55

yes but someone else who is type A can also have O, same for B, and AB i think.

good job i'm not on the list, i can only have Oneg.

onlyjoking9329 Tue 27-Feb-07 20:02:08

at last some better news, i will keep fingers crossed for you all that you get the call soon.
