dd2 6mths post bug 48hrs fontanelle sunken more than normal

However there's no other signs of dehydration. I have been giving her milk & water with a tiny bit of apple juice like 1-50 diluted. There has been a drop in intake, from say 25+oz normally to 16oz yesterday,but it is understandable after a vomit bug.

Should I be overly worried (like a trip to HV GAWDFORBID after threads about the loon), or just make sure she increases intake the next few days?
Ive never dealt with a bug like this in a baby so little.

As long as she is still having wet nappies, moist lips and crying tears I wouldn't worry too much for a couple of days. As you say it is normal after a vomit/diahrroea bug.

If you are worried you can o and see GP if that is preferable to HV.

yes slightly mad , I thought it was sort of ok if only one part of her wasnt completely the same,probably just need to make sure she has as much fluids as poss in any form right now. I just needed to double check , never want to miss anything.

I think SMS is right that as long as she is having wet nappies, she should probably isn't dehydrated. But take her to the doctors if you're worried.

My DD3 got seriously dehydrated WHILST UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A GP believe it or not - and despite this she recovered quickly. HV was not amused.

She will be OK if all the other things I listed are in check and if it is only a couple of days...I was advised to limit her solid intake to effectively increase her milk intake but she was a bit younger at the tie (7m) and didn't miss the solids.

Will see how her intake is through the rest of the day , shes not great at milk during the day anyway, so will see how much she takes the rest of day and bed time. If theres still a big reduction by tomorrow I will definitely go to GP.

Always tend to look at nappies, tongue and general behaviour. Didnt think of the tears aspect.

shes not really eating anything of significance,despite starting weaning a few weeks ago. Ive been using it more to up her dairy anyway , as shes not a big fan of milk , seems really not at all interested in bottles during the day.

God only knows what they were doing. I was telling them that her overnight nappy (12hr) was minimally wet - didn't matter cos it was wet. She is not a big crier anyway so I couldn't look at that. GP said her mucous membranes in her mouth were moist and that was all that mattered .

HV saw her as she was recovering and wanted to admit her to hosp - until I said the GP didnt't think so. I don't think HVs can over-rule GPs so it didn't go anywhere.

I guess I knew how bad she was but didn't want to admit it cos I knew she would end up in hosp IYSWIM.

She is fine now and that is all that matters...

I should say that the crying tears should be assessed when she is really crying and not just winginging IYSWIM - cos babies often cry without tears IYSWIM...

I am not suggesting that you drop your dd2 on the floor just to mak her cry properly BTW!!!

ok update , she took 20oz yesterday so nearly up to normal amount. VERY wet and pooey nappy 1st thing morning and quite a strange smell , her poo is a very light green, I cant think what green food shes had, if any. Shes now done 3 of these odd smelly poos in the last hour , so hopefully her system is just clearing it all through. (TMI , we all have odd brown strange urine from the bug to , so this is may be her version.)

However despite this her fontanelle is still lower, BUT it seems to be raising more on one side. Good sign I hope. She took a little of a half a cup of water yesterday too.
