Still bleeding after Mirena coil fitted 6 weeks ago

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Git the mirena coil fitted in early December at the same time as having a hysteroscopy (horrific procedure, but that story's for another time). I was told to expect spotting and I may still get periods but they should be much lighter (I was a flooder).

There was spotting to begin with, I'd even say a bit more than spotting. Then just after new year it became heavier like a normal period (not at all like the heavy flooding I had experienced for years) but it has remained like that since around 2nd January. There's no sign of it getting any lighter. I'm getting fed up frankly and I feel tired all the time, probably because of the amount of blood I've been losing.

I do have my follow up appointment with the nurse to make sure the coil is still there etc but it's not until next Friday 27th.

Is this blood loss normal? Should I try send get seen sooner?

Poor you- that is rubbish. When I had the mirena fitted, I had bleeding every day for just over three months. When I was finally utterly sick and ready to have it removed, it just stopped on its own. Have only had one or two days bleeding over the last 13 months.
Worth speaking to your GP to check you are well, and all is as it should be, but I was told that it takes a little while to settle.
Good luck- hope it resolves soon.

Like lounging I bled every single day for three months when I had mine fitted. I'd just decided to ask for it to be taken out when it suddenly stopped. And after those first few weeks it's been fine, no problems at all so worth sticking with if you can

I had the jaydess fitted in November. Bled for a week but had started bleeding the morning I had it put in and decided it was a period (first one since DS born). Then nothing for another week, then spotting, then a big bleed over Christmas which I think would have been around period time as well.

It was driving me mad and I thought I'd made a mistake but like a PP it just stopped one day and touch wood I haven't had a spot since. The nurse on my checkup said it was totally normal and that it's settling in which can cause the bleeds. Happy I did it now - particularly since I got the pill for a time beforehand and I hadn't taken it for three years at that point and kept forgetting!!

Sorry to say I had 9 months of bleeding/spotting before I was given Cerelle on top to calm things down. I was on that for a few months and then period free for a while.

You could ask your GP about Norethisterone which works for some women to stop the constant bleeding/spotting? Would also be worth getting your iron levels checked too.

I had bleeding for about 4 months with mine and on and off for the first year and since then nothing , it's quite normal apparently.

I bled every day (more than spotting) despite going on progesterone tablets and then the combined pull with the Mirena in place. I had it removed.
