Hello ! Just wondering has anyone tried tumeric for inflammation or general health and what was the overall experience ? How long to kick in , how did you take it ? Thanks in advance

I have added it daily ( normally to scrambled eggs for breakfast) since I had cellulitis last year.
I have nt noticed anything at all, however I haven't had any more cellulitis which I am at a high risk of getting again and which I never want to have again!
Also, all the benefits of preventing various illnesses.... how would I know I have avoided getting something? I like the flavour it adds, so no harm in keeping going. I'll report back if I live to 150...!

Not personally but a friend swears by it. The recipe involves turmeric, black pepper and coconut oil. Stopped her arthritis pain.

Thanks I have added black pepper I hear this makes it absorbed easier. I will give the coconut oil a go

I just shake in some of the ground spice, probably a heaped teaspoons worth. Not sure I'd want it in milk!
Cellulitis was the worst thing I've ever had, so frightening how quickly it spreads. Lots of people haven't heard of it i find!

Yep. DH kept taking it every day, throughout the day with some milk for his arthritis. He thinks it helped his symptoms slightly but didn't feel the difference was worth it if he had to go through the ritual of taking turmeric and milk daily.

I take tumeric capsules and after about 2 months of taking daily I realised I no longer needed ibuprofen for my back pain. Definitely helped me.

Saw a Herbalist yesterday who mixed Turmeric, Capisicum, Devils Claw and Hypericum into a tincture for me for pain and inflammation as I am withdrawing from opioids. It is very unpalatable due to the capsicum, put 2.5ml into a whole glass of mllk and it still burns going down. I will persevere though if it works.

I drink it in hot chocolate and add black pepper. I think it helps me to concentrate.

I heard Michael Moseley talking about turmeric on the radio a few days ago. I was convinced enough to buy some since my finger arthritis was flared up at the time. I have had it mixed into food for a few days. Nit so good in porridge.

If it works it would be great. The taste might get easier. Hope so x

Please note that turmeric is a natural blood thinner. Anyone who is taking heparin, warfarin or aspirin must avoid turmeric.

To be fully effective, the powder you get from the supermarket is shite. Actual turmeric looks a bit like ginger and it much more effective.

I have an old impact jnjury on my thigh (I fell down the stairs pissed as a fart), and make a kind of tea using actual turmeric.

Can't advise where to get it from though as I'm not in the uk.

Ah I got mine online and it's a different colour from the supermarket powder hope it's the right one. I did consider a capsule but my body is rubbish at absorbing them !

VLCos Michael Moseley was saying that the capsules were pointless as it is best absorbed when it is warm, and with something fatty.

I used to get horrendous boils around my boobs and thighs, and taking turmeric capsules would bring down the inflammation and reabsorb the infection within about 24 hours.

Purely anecdotal though, I don't know if there's any real quality evidence for it. I do remember reading something about it being somewhat effective against MRSA which I think may have been the source of the boils, but again, possibly just coincidence.

Turmeric milk: 2 tablespoons each of turmeric, raw honey, coconut oil and a few grinding of black pepper. Melt together and then store in a jar in the fridge. Add one tablespoon to a cup full of plant milk and warm through, adding cinnamon or cardamon to vary the flavour.

My other favourite recipe is:
50g of fresh turmeric, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 200ml of orange juice, a few grindings of black pepper, a few leaves of fresh mint and a sprinkle of bee pollen. Blend until smooth.

Helps old muscle injuries (knees, plantar fascitis)

All very interesting, so far apart from the taste I have been finding very positive outcomes from adding it into the diet .!
