If you suffer from facial flushing, how do you manage it?

I have suffered for 25 years and it has had a huge impact on my life, I just wonder if anyone else has found something that helps them?

Is this the same as blushing? .

I had an operation to cure this (although my problem wasn't blushing it was sweaty hands but it's the same nerve they operate on).

See the article below - this is not me by the way but it's the same op I had for my hands. I don't blush anymore either (not that it was a problem) but you can try and embarrass me all you like and it will not show on my face Grin. Soz for the Daily Fail link btw.

I had a terrible time with facial blushing whilst at school. My so called friends would deliberately try to embarrass me to make me go red. I resorted to that slightly green tinted face cream you can buy. It takes the redness out of your face. Also resorted to using a lot of slap when I know I am going to be in a potentially blushable situation.

For me it seems to have subsided slightly over the years...although I am still very prone. Also more recently I seem to get very sweaty instead. Hmm

What sort of situations are you affected by op? Is it specific situations or much more frequent than that?

I took propranolol for generalised anxiety a while back and found it took some of my blushing away. Not sure if that was just me though?

Would you believe I had that operation in my twenties but sadly it did nothing for the flushing. It's not blushing, I don't know what triggers it. Well I kind of do, tiredness, eating, alcohol, stress, hot to cold temps, wind. It's basically rosacea but I don't have permanent redness or the acne component.

It's so ducking debilitating and embarrassing. I think I forget I've got it over the summer but directly the colder weather comes it's back with a vengeance and I'm just so sad about it 😔

Oh no, what a shame! It must be a different kind of problem then. Hope someone comes along with some ideas.

Ah sleep free and karate - no words of wisdom I'm afraid, just solidarity! I'm a natural blonde who's battled blushing over the years - really struggled at school especially. People still comment on it even though I'm in my thirties - I'll never overcome it, but it has got better. I don't quite have flushing as described, but cold weather, exercise, hot foods, sugar and alcohol do give me issues. It's a bitch but if I worried about it too much I'd never get anything else done! I was actually reading one of the rosacea forums last night and I think I'm going to try and change my eating for a bit and see if it helps. Apparently an anti migraine diet can really help.

I read an anti sugar diet also helps - But never managed it to be honest. Ive suffered too most of my life, I dont have a certain trigger as such it can just come on me but the main think is drinking. If i know ill be drinking I know Ill be bright red.

Ive tried those green foundations and never found 1 that makes me look human when im not blushing, they all make me look like a ghost. I did try 1 in clinique last year though developed especially for rosacea and found it really good, Hid mos of the redness while not looking so pale, I think because they've developed a colour range of it rather than just a bottle of green 1 colour doesnt suits all foundation.

Im just about to start a course of beta blockers for anxiety and the dr said this could also help with the blushing so we'll see.
