Yesterday I had an ERPC to end an early miscarriage. As I was coming round from anaesthetic I was abruptly told be the surgeon that I have endometriosis and then he just fucking disappeared before I even had my eyes open.

I have no idea what this means for me now with my fertility (I'm 39, no other kids) or what future treatment mill be.

Does anyone else have this and what is your experience?

I would complain to PALS about the poor treatment you received in the recovery room. This is poor practice on the part of both the surgeon and hospital.

It took me a long time to be diagnosed with endometriosis and it was only officially confirmed after laparoscopic type surgery (this is the usual way it is diagnosed). It is quite common and much under diagnosed. I had problems becoming pregnant due to both PCOS and endometriosis.

This is a good website that has lots of useful information on it:-

Yes I think I might complain. I was told I'd had biopsies by a recovery nurse but when I asked for someone to come and talk to me about why when I was on the ward, I was told that the surgeon had left. The recovery nurse also told me what painkillers I'd been written up for and I wasn't given them. The nurse had forgotten to order my blood thinning injections to take home and remembered just as the pharmacy was closing, and I assume she forgot to order my codeine too, but pretended I wasn't written up for it. When I questioned her she said it wasn't prescribed - I was told and I heard her being told when she collected me from recovery!

Do you suffer much pain or anything? Apart from heavy painful periods and hair loss, I've never had any other symptoms that I'm aware of

I certainly would contact PALS in your particular circumstances, what happened here was poor practice.

My main symptoms of endometriosis was pain; lots of it leading up to and during menses. I used to get stomach and pelvic pain also and pain down each leg because the sciatic nerves were inflamed. Endo can also cause periods to become heavy in terms of flow.
