Sore stomach and breathlessness

BreathyVonSoreTum · 02/10/2016 17:12

Had a mild pain right at the top of my stomach for about 3/4 days but it's ramped right up this afternoon.
Also had a tight chest on and off for the same amount of time which is also bothering me more today.

I've been mostly laid up on the sofa today not being able to do a lot. Being a Sunday and on my own with 18mo I'd rather not run the out of hours gauntlet if it's something I can treat at home; any ideas? Sad

Ring NHS Direct - don't ask for medical advice via the internet.

Agree you should seek further medical advice. You need to establish if the breathlessness is 'air hunger' or shortness of breath. True breathlessness is likely to get worse on exertion ie after climbing stairs. Air hunger is the feeling that you can't get enough breath, but there is no actual problem getting enough oxygen. There are loads of possible causes of air hunger, from anxiety to GERD. Either way, you need a medical opinion to determine the cause. It sounds like your breathlessness is limiting what you can do, and is getting worse. Whilst there's a good chance it's nothing, no-one on the internet can rule out more serious problems like a pulmonary embolism or pneumonia (yes, I know, you think that you'd know if you had pneumonia, but I had a friend who's only symptoms were feeling tired and breathless, no cough). Please get checked out, hope you feel better soon Flowers
