Very emotional after GA

Hi,I had a hysteroscopy on weds (with a biopsy). All went ok,and then my period arrived on Friday (very heavy and painful which isn't unusual for me).
Today I'm a total wreck, feels like having really bad PMT,very tearful, shouted at my DS earlier.
Is this normal after a GA?Or has something happened to my hormones?
Will just have to cry it out today I think.

I wouldn't have said it was related to the GA unless it's due to tiredness?

Sounds like post op blues. It's normal to feel teary and down following surgery and GA. I tend to get it day 3 post op.

It passes, be kind to yourself, rest and drink plenty Flowers

Yes it's possible. Will try and have an earlier night tonight.

Chesty that's exactly how I have been feeling. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

In my experience it's likely to be the GA. I've felt like this after two ops, very unsettled, teary and paranoid. However, been fine after the most recent two - think they must have used a different mix.

I get teary after any anaesthetic, general or local (like having a filling at the dentist) conkerpods. I'm such a wuss, I try and make sure that I don't have to rush back to work or do anything involving too much thinking. Don't forget that you've been poked and prodded and been anxious. It all adds up. Take it easy. Have a good cry if you need to. All perfectly normal.Flowers

The last two GAs I've had (also for gynae stuff) I've been weepy, very anxious and just generally emotionally out of sorts for a few days afterwards.

As PPs have said, try and take it easy and will pass soon enough.

Thanks everyone. I've been feeling normal today. I had no idea a GA could affect people like this!
Hopefully I won't need another anytime soon.

GAs always do this to me, too.. apparently it's v common. Glad you got through it OK.
