Severe pelvic organ prolapse

Can anyone tell me about guidelines for a reaonable time to wait for a surgical fix? I have a moderate cystocele, very severe rectocele and grade 3 uterine prolapse and have been in the system for 12 months now being pushed along with various waiting lists for interim tests.

My proctogram has shown that I have an intussusception so I'm waiting since May for a joint clinic with my uro-gynae and colorectal surgeons and there is no date scheduled as no clinic has been agreed.

I feel very upset to have waited this long, I have 2 very young children and my problems have become more severe in the 12 months I have waited so far! I think I will see the joint clinic in November so probably minimum of February next year before I can have surgery if I need a joint surgery.

I've been seeing a specialist nurse from the clinic to get fitted for a pessary (on going, no right fit yet) and she's sympathetic but I don't feel my treatment is acceptable and I don't know what I can do about it.

Any advice appreciated and hello to anyone I know -- this is a very identifying thread! I am not shy about moaning about my complications to my friends!!!

Unfortunately this seems to be the norm.
I waited nearly a year for a hysterectomy, and Ive now had a bladder /bowel prolapse and have been told its a year just to be seen by gynae.
Why is it taking so long for a pessary? My dr tried different sizes on me until one fit in her surgery one morning.
I would phone one of your specialists secretary and try to get and answer to what is going on.
You have my sympathies, I hope you are sorted soon Flowers

A friend got seen after 3 months, after being told a year so hopefully it won't be that long.

Can someone please help me? I was told 15 years ago that I have a prolapse uterus.. my current symptoms are 5 UTIs within the past 12 months, extreme constipation ( w blood coming out of my vagina), tampons not staying in, and pain during sex occasionally, Do you share any of these symptoms? I have made two appointments with my obgyn which she had to cancel. I am calling today to reschedule again. Can you share your experiences with me?? Thank you so much!!
