How can I relax?

I was brought up by a dreadful mother who abhorred anyone seen as being lazy. She used to say of her supposedly best friend,"Oh Jessie is so lazy - all she does is sit on her fat backside reading or doing crosswords" etc etc

I find it very hard to relax or unwind. I am very easily bored and have a very short concentration span. I am on hols from work at the moment and don't know what to do. I have cleaned the house, prepped dinner but almost feel guilty about spending the rest of the day watching TV or reading. I can almost hear my mother's voice telling me to do something useful with my time!!

What do others do to relax or switch off? Thanks in advance Smile

Don't feel guilty! Watch tv , read, relax !!! My ex was like this he always had to be doing something ( I on the other hand find it easy to do nothing when I get chance) if you find that these things are boring for you then how about a walk or meet a friend ?

i think you should volunteer in an area what would interest you.

this will also help with the stuff that your mum used to say (mine is exactly the same) and plus you would be helping out in the community so it will make you feel good and you wont get bored and it helps in the sense that you don't feel lazy etc

im thinking about volunteering too. best wishes

Thanks for the ideas - I see that my local hospital is looking for volunteer helpers so think I will give that a try.
